More importantly, the worry should be the roof coming down as a result of the post flexing or sheering off the foundation.

I'm not sure I have ever seen such a thing designed as 'a thing.' You would need to reinforce the post in all directions. Adding a brace could transfer a point load to the column and make it even weaker.

The key would be to transfer loads to a foundation and make it independent of the roof structure.

A rolling A-Frame hoist would probably be the path of least resistance to do what you are looing to do:

To my eye it is a wounder the weight of what looks like a 25 foot steel beam hanging off the top of a 9 foot wood post has not pulled the post over before you hang a load on it.

A proper foundation for something with half the length would be 6 yards of concrete with a steel cage toped with a steel mast.

Now now! Op said not to pick it apart, no matter how unsafe or likely it is to collapse. So, since op apparently only wants pats on the back for it not falling over yet, I'll sit this one out.

How long is that I-beam, and how much weight do you plan on being able to lift with it? At first glance it seems excessively large and heavy considering the vertical post it's mounted on, but maybe the photos aren't showing things accurately.

You're right to be concerned. My recommendation would be to remove what you have before it pulls the structure down. There is no reasonable path to properly reinforce what you have going on.

The amount of force applied to that post via leverage is astronomical. No level of reinforcement with what you have laying around is going to help, you'll severely injure or kill yourself by doing this. I would recommend taking what you have and making an a frame hoist or buying a used one. I understand money being tight but the expense of your health and/or life is at risk here.
