I just picked myself up a roll around tool cart and some hansen trays. I'm very happy with the set up so far. It nice to not have to run back and forth to my toolbox or pull out my socket set and dump it in the middle of scavanging. Just wondering what some of you all are using.

Here's mine. I got it from rural king. Clarke is the brand, but i quickly peeled off the stickers so the signs are less obvious that it is made in china:bounce:

I'm thinking about putting some ribbed vinyl on the top for a nice work surface. What do you think?

You all are right about the hansen trays. They make your socket collection seem very inadequate.

I don't know who makes mine but I threw some Snap On stickers on it for good measure

looks reat ... looked at one very similar at Horror Freight just a few days ago. Didn't buy it as I have no room for it at the moment. Hopefully I will be able to build a 24' x 32' detached garage/workshop soon ... that is, IF the home owner's association will tell me what is and isn't acceptable.

Gotta love living in a "housing development." :wtf:

My lift is about 30' from my main bench area, so I use a Craftsman "project center" at the lift, outfitted with the most common tools and tune-up equipment I use regularly so I don't have to keep walking back and forth to the bench.

Does anyone else find it ironic that our tool storage units have grown so large we don't roll them to our work any longer, and we need yet another rolling unit to take tools to our work area. :headscrat FWIW I use hand trays and also have a homebuilt plywood dual shelf unit to take around the shop for various things.

Yes, I find it amusing.:)

I don't roll boxes around at home, because they don't roll well on gravel. If I had a nice, smooth floor, I would definitely roll it to the job. At least, until someone invents hovertrays.

At home - Matco MSC4:
msc4bk.jpg

At work, I just have a regular polymer cart from Matco that has magnetic tool holders down both sides. I toss what I need onto/into the cart, use it, and empty it back into my rollaway. I used to have the MSC4 at work... but loaded it down with so many tools that it was a pain to move it any more. I can toss the plastic one around with 1 hand, and when it's time to rotate tires, I just set 'em on the cart's top instead of dropping 'em to the ground and picking them back up.

Good thread. Keep them coming. I've been thinking about a rolling tool cart for a while. This may just push me on to get one.

Here is my Matco tool cart. The pic is from the day I got it used and had just finished cleaning it up. This winter I've been working on outfitting it with tools in prep for using it when it warms up this spring. I've replaced the lock with a working one and added dark gray rubber-backed mat to all the base surfaces. There's a screwdriver rack that's built into the top and usable when its open.

Made most of mine up quick when I needed them. Also keep stuff stripped off I am not really using, willing to walk to a box for the occasional type things. No real full socket sets, only the most used.

Someone gave me a couple home built rolling carts, at first I thought they would be in the way but have proved useful, use the every day now.

This is my set up for now. I ran out of room in my two tool boxes (2 3 piece craftsmans) so I put all the ratchets, extensions and sockets in this china cart. Looking to upgrade to something with more drawers for more common tools. So far works okay. I just put all other tools on top of my second cart that i know I'll need.
