Ok so in the hot deals thread there was some back and forth about RIDGID's LSA. Some claim it's been great others say it's a total scam. I just bought This combo kit sale $249 one of factors was the LSA.

SO post any dealings with LSA you've had. Please give as many specifics as you can, don't just say " I sent it off and it got fixed" or "those crooks charged me $$ for something that should been covered". Include things like time it took to get tool back, how easy/difficult contact cust. Service, reason they gave for denial, etc.

Here's my experience with registration

So registration sounds simple but in my view it's a bit tedious. Everything is online so you have to create an account, then enter the model number of the kit then the site lists everything in the kit and you have to enter the serial number for each item, triple check it cause if it's not a match when you send it it'll be denied (read the fine print). Then you enter your Home Depot receipt number (hopefully you saved it). Then you get a page asking you to double check all the info is correct then send it and wait for confirmation. I did this on FEB 24 status is LSA Pending does say may take up to 6-8 weeks to receive confirmation

Biggest thing was all the fine print. So gotta let me give you the bullet points.
- Must buy from Home Depot will need barcode # on receipt
- must register within 90 days of purchase
- LSA only for original purchaser (person who registers it)
- need receipt and LSA customer ID# when need service( site recommends making copy of original HD receipt for this reason)
- if RIDGID replaces a tool under the LSA you have 90 days to re-register that tool for LSA or it just falls under standard 3 yr warranty

Yup, that's about it, looks like you've cover'd everything concerning registering you Ridgid products, including batteries and charger as well (don't forget).

Early last year when I purchased a cordless drill set combo (one basic drill and one impact drill) along with two batteries and the charger, the sales clerk informed me on what exactly needed to be done in order to fully understand the warranty for both drills, battery and charger.

Like you, went home and with receipt in hand logged on and registered everything included, followed directions on website, once finished received confirmation that everything was registered and warranty applied, made copies of the original receipt from Home Depot and printed out the confirmation email received from Ridgid and saved along with the manual(s), paper work, etc. of the drills.

Thing is with Ridgid is that they will "only" allow registration and warranty the batteries & charger if purchased along with a combo set and it has to be purchased through HomeDepot only (no where else, no online). http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-X...mpact-Driver-Combo-Kit-2-Tool-R9602/205762719

Late last year purchased a Ridgid shop vac http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-3-gal-18V-Cordless-Handheld-Wet-Dry-Vac-WD0319/206094592 but it did not come with the battery. Item is registered and under warranty but had to buy the batteries seperate and Ridgid would not allow registration of the either battery (only 90 day warranty).
The following are the batteries I purchased seperate just for the shop vac.http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-5-0Ah-Battery-2-Pack-AC840089PN/206736730

In all honesty, over all, only time will tell for sure on how exactly Ridgid will respond if needed?

I have Ridgid stuff going back to the X2 era and it has been solid. Registering for the LSA is not a huge hassle but does require you to pay attention until registration is confirmed. IMO, the time spent is worth the piece if mind. Everyone may not agree with me and that's OK.

Several batteries have been replaced under LSA and like the registration, the replacement process has gotten better over the years. Take it to Home Depot, they verify it's bad and the replacement is drop shipped to your house from Gardner. Easy process to convert the replacement battery to LSA with a quick phone call. Clearly, it's a marketing strategy and it works...at least for me. Knowing what I know now, I probably should've gone with Milwaukee due to the wider selection of tools.

All in all, satisfied with the Ridgid line and the LSA process. It's not perfect but it is unique in the industry and the process does seem to be somewhat streamlined and improved over the years. Hope this helps. And no, I do not work for HD or TTI (parent company of Ryobi, Ridgid and Milwaukee).

Now we just need Ridgid to keep coming out with new 18V tools. How about a cordless framing nailer or a brushless 15 gauge angled finish nailer???
