Didn't want to take away from the other cat thread. This is Rex. I got him in 1993 from the pound as a full grown cat. I have had him 25 of my almost 50 years.

He can be quite onry and only has 4 teeth left. He is doing well for his age that has to be near 30.

Re: Post your cat here

Chris you must take good care of your buddy:thumbup: 25 years is an amazing age for a kitty.
Our cat’s name is Maxie or Max but lately I have been calling her Fatso. She is pretty active outside but being a fair weather cat she is gaining weight staying in doors. To be honest she has been gaining weight for a while now. We are working on that. We were away on holidays and my daughter was staying over taking care of our dog, Daisy and Fatso. She brought along her 2 cats, Pebbles and Sierra. These 2 cats don’t devour their meals but snack through the day. Fatso eats it all. When we got home the bedroom that the visiting cats were fed had the door pulled shut. I fed Fatso and when she finished she went up to the closed bedroom door and started meowing. She put some pretty major weight on in 3 weeks and my daughters cats lost weight.:lol_hitti

Post your cat here

Cats usually get a lot of hate but I like them over dogs. Not that I hate dogs but I have always been a cat person

We adopted one cat as a rescue and we also took in a total feral cat, it took many years for her to fully domesticate however she became the best cat ever, unfortunately we lost her to cancer when she was only about 12. We never gave her a proper name and just called her “little one” since she was the runt of the feral cats

Re: Post your cat here

Left to right....Colby, Abner and Ralph. It's an older pic from when we first got them all (they are the most recent in the long line of cats we've had, but it's the only pic I have of them all together on the device I'm using right now). They're all much larger now, especially Abner who is pushing 17 lbs. We just spent a small fortune on him getting his teeth and ears cleaned under sedation, but Colby is the golden boy. A couple years ago he slipped a disc in his spine......many, many dollars later he made a full recovery and you'd never know anything was ever wrong with him:beer: He was the runt of his litter though, and is a pretty small cat. Ralph is/was a feral farm cat we rescued from out in the PA countryside. He is crazy, wired, hyper, full-on CAT, but is one of the most affectionate cats we've ever had. They are all males and get along great. We'll never have another female cat.....we had 3 in the past and only one of them was cool. The other two were certified bat **** crazy:spit:

I got Kitty December 16, 2002. Somebody left him behind when they dropped off their U-Haul truck at my buddy's dealership.
He had a good run - I had to have him euthanized last year on December 13 - he got a respiratory infection (most likely caused by the forest fire smoke that's plagued us here the last two summers.)

This is Pepper. I got her six years ago from a no-kill shelter when she was three. She can be incredibly sweet, and an incredible terror at the vet. My wife wasn't crazy about cats before she met Pepper, but now she couldn't imagine life without her.

This is Kaylee the sweet. 8 years old this year and the sweetest, most unassuming, tiny cat I've ever known. A mere 5½ lbs. Next is Quigley the Hellcat. 12 lbs of fury, though I don't know what I'd do without him, since I lost my wife. 5 years old and definitely my buddy. Both purebred Tonkinese, Kaylee is a Platinum Mink, Quigley a Bluepoint.

Sammy

IM000360.jpg

He was found as a kitten in the break room at work & I was talked into taking him home, a rather ill-tempered but not mean cat, as he will hiss & growl if annoyed, but was the only cat who got along with my late German Shepard, Boris, who loved cats, Sammy has a lot of personality and loves attention.

Sammy, & Shadow, another stray that I took home.

Sammy, Shadow, & Bugs, I lost Bugs almost a couple of years ago at 18, he was born under my bed & was the last of his siblings, just a great cat just did not like dogs & if they got too close they were getting vaccinated but if they kept their distance, he left them alone. Still miss Bugs.

Re: Post your cat here

We brought this little guy home back in May for my wife's birthday.
Yep, Maine ****. About 9 months old now and already above 10 lbs.
He's an interesting character. One minute a cuddle monster, the next second he's the typical mischievous boy tearing up things and attacking your hands and feet playfully.
We hope he grows out of this stage quickly. Wife put up a small Christmas tree already and it didn't take long for all the ornaments to be scattered all over the house. It's going to be a very interesting Christmas this year. :wtf:

Some more recent pics.

Chillin in front of the fire.

Cuddling with the old pup.

I told him to help me find a tool. He wanted a high vantage point.

These are our current two little monsters: Kate and Pippa.
Littermates that we adopted from the rescue shelter. Energetic, smart, affectionate, adorable little cats. One of them is chasing a plastic spring around the house as I type, and will actually fetch and retrieve. When they are resting they generally twist themselves into the weirdest positions. And when they watch TV they like Jennifer Jones.

We picked up this buxom gal from the shelter a few months ago. She was with an old lady that went to a home and couldn’t take her. The cat loves my wife and could care less about me.

Here's Rudy. He's a short hair tuxedo cat. However his original tail got caught in the vacuum cleaner. We rushed him to the vet and they happened to have an organ donor tail from a long hair tabby so we retailed *****.

This is Slinky
She showed up at the in-laws one day and never left. When they moved she came to our house. She's diabetic and basically behaves like dog- begging for food at the table and always wants to be petted. She loves sitting in the sun, no matter where (she especially likes to get filthy near the dumpster pile from the kitchen renovation :headscrat) and loves to look out the window, even if it means climbing on my head while I sleep, and getting around the curtain to get there - she definitely rules the house :D

Great thread.....sorry that the genesis of it was Jag's cat though:(

Scott, regarding your cats high vantage point, I heard or read somewhere (maybe it was that goofy Jackson the cat guy), that there are two types of cats: tree-dwellers and bush-dwellers. Each cat will either want to have a lookout post to watch their prey or a ground location where they can hide themselves from whatever thinks THEY are prey to. We have 2 tree dwellers and one bush:spit:

Yea, he really likes the high vantage point. He hops up on top of my '66 Mustang GT Fastback (under a car cover) and observes whatever I'm working on at the time. I can run power tools, bang on things and make all kinds of noise. Only thing that freaks him out is when I use my blow gun to dust things off. The hissing gets his attention, quick!

He also does the lay low thing. Its funny, but he'll jump up on the table or counter top. We firmly tell him to get down, and he hunkers down and "hides" behind an object sometimes 1/3 the size of himself like we can't see him.
Or I walk into the bathroom and he's hunkered down in the bathtub trying to hide. Sometimes he springs up at us.
Funny thing is, every time I turn the shower on, he runs into it to get a close up view of the water hitting the floor. Or when I'm shaving in the morning and he hops up on the vanity and plays with the water. :lol_hitti

Merlot does this as well. It blew us away when he started it. Why the name? We were trying to come up with a name, and he kept sticking his paw and head into the wife's glass of Merlot wine. She was frustrated trying to stop him and got all tongue twisted and called him Merlot and it stuck!

I might as well post our two puddy tats, although I just realized I don't have any recent photos. These are a couple years old.

This is Shadow. We adopted him 4 years ago from one of my coworkers. He needed surgery and they were going to have him put down instead of paying the $700. He's 8 years old now and a very nice cat. He really loves attention.

45169096684_7b371cc9cc_c.jpg

This is Buddy. We got him as a kitten 16 years ago. He thinks he's a dog and hangs out with our dogs more than he does with other cats.

We also have another big dog and everybody gets along just fine.

CATS VS KIDS:
1. you don't have to send them to college, that frees up $$ for hobbies
2. kids do a poor job keeping your house mouse-free, cats kill everything that wiggles
3. cats keep your feet warm in winter
4. cats don't hate you when they turn 13
5. when you toss the cat into the garage, CPS doesn't come to arrest you
6. bad times or good, cats are your friend (as long as you serve food to them)
7. cats are better on your lap than is a 90 lb Labrador
8. living in a cat hair-infested house keeps your immune system strong

Re: Post your cat here

Our cat Boo, kids named her that because the lady at the adopt place said people are scared of black cats, so no one takes them. My wife was walking by the crate she was in and she reached out and touched her arm, so they brought her home.

After growing out of being a kitten, she found this small stuffed black kitten toy that my kids had, shes been carrying around ever since. She's like 9 or 10 now.

Watch the vids, I threw my old gopro on the kitchen floor.

Re: Post your cat here

We got our boys Sancho Panza and Don Quixote a couple of years ago. They are brothers, adopted from an area shelter. They couldn't be more different. Sancho is a snuggler, and a gentleman. Donkey is a mess; he doesn't like to be touched, acts as if he doesn't like anybody.

Here they are when we got them.

attachment.php

attachment.php

First day at their new home.
attachment.php

Here's Donkey explaining how he wasn't on the counter, and doesn't know anything about any whipped cream.

attachment.php

Sancho is a climber. We figure the wall tapestry was involved in his climb on top of the 8' grandfather clock

attachment.php

Here he is on top of the upper kitchen cabinets.

attachment.php

Donkey is my cat. Or I'm his person. He follows me around, gets on my jacket when I lay it down, demands to go into the garage when I'm working out there. He's no scaredy cat either; loud noises don't bother him, except (as somebody mentioned in this thread) the air nozzle.

attachment.php

At night he jumps on the bed and sleeps at my feet. Or at least I think it's him. He runs off if I move too much, sit up or turn on the light.

Re: Post your cat here

We also have Lola, which is my daughter's cat. She doesn't care for me at all, even though I do all the work taking care of the cats.

She's a long haired tortoiseshell, and is actually quite funny. She is 4 years old.

Re: Post your cat here

This is Cinder, aka Cinderoo, aka Cinderella.
My wife got her at 6 weeks old in 2001 to keep her other cat company in a 1 bedroom apartment. The other cat, Ashes, crossed the rainbow bridge 2 years ago. Other than fish, she’s our only pet as we thought it cruel to introduce a kitten or puppy into a home with a 17 year old cat.
My 5 year old son already has plans for what happens when she dies though.
Cinder liked me at first when she was a kitten. Then they all moved to Virginia, then I moved to Virginia and my wife and I got married. I brought my Basset Hound with me, this was in December 2002. She’s never forgiven me for that, even though the Basset Hound went to live with my parents in 2004 when I was deployed and never came back.

I figured brining home our son from the hospital in 2013 would send her over the edge, but she’s done well and even lets him brush her sometimes.

She is absolutely a Mama’s girl. She doesn’t move out of her chair and blanket much. Ironically, I brought this blanket home from Kuwait with me. She adopted it and it has become hers.
Her paws Have not touched the outside ground in 17 years. She’s losing her hearing and her sight and has become more vocal with age.

Our Bandit. That was his name when we adopted him. 14 years old and he is the boss of the neighborhood. Our dog is afraid of him.

Also the chief preventer of reading and typing...
