I'm really glad I waited patiently for one. I almost did an impulsive purchase on a scissor lift because back in January, the Maxjax was not available yet.
First project with the Maxjax will almost pay off the initial cost of the purchase.
I am dropping the engine for some major bottom end work, clutch and rear suspension re-indexing and possibly a torque tube rebuild.
I am planning to get a hydraulic lift table to make the engine drop a little easier. Harbor Freight sells a 500 lb lift table for $170. Does anybody know if this one will do the job?

Here is a few shot of the lift in action. I just love the unobstructed space under the car. And I can't believe it's in my low ceiling garage. Thank you Danmar for making it possible!

it's a little more money but i'm probably going to get the one from greg smith or northern tool:

http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/1-100-lb-Table-Truck-p/httf50.htm

I have a maxjax and figured it would make dropping engines a lot easier.

Thanks for the link. The greg smith looks more heavy duty at 1000 lbs.

I completely agree, I find it easier just to drop the engine rather than pulling it from the top now that i have a lift.

Oh, I thought about just buying a single-acting hydraulic cylinder, fab the scissor type table then use the Maxjax power unit to operate the hydraulic lift table. It shouldn't be that hard. What do you think? Time to draw it up on my autocad.

Hey I recognize that type of car. At first it looked familiar, but the second shot with those trailing arms confirmed it.

Here's mine, not quite as shiny (or wrinkle free) :)

Hey Cris, yes the famous trailing arm on torsion bars but soon to be on coil-overs, I hope as soon as the budget allows.

I like the flat grey with racing stickers and decals.... looks good!

ill see your race car and raise you a pair.

Hey Spec Pinata :) When I sold my early 911 racecar a couple of years ago, I thought seriously of running a Miata but finally decided to go with a 944 Cup car instead. Fun little cars and they run similar laptimes to our 44's at Summit Point. They have great fields also.

Good to see some 944 guys on this board.
Is that an S2 bazar01? Looks like it with the D90's.

Nice 944 spec car alpinems.

I wish I could get a Maxjax in my garage, but I have the smallest garage in the world, and it won't fit.

Here's my 944 S2:

Pretty sweet looking S2 there Jon. And you're right, that is one small garage. If you have anything more than a 6pack, you're not getting out of that car :)

Did somebody say 'early 911 race car?'

No lift, yet:

Hi Jack, I've seen that car at the Pelican.
I really wanted an early 911 but the wife won't join the fun rides
without airbags, so the 964.

Yes Jon, it's an S2. Turned it over to my son when I got the 964.
You have a sweet S2 there. Are those 19"s?

And Jack, I knew of your car from Rennlist. I always wanted to do the rear lights like yours. I've always liked your car.
Thanks. Your car is beautiful.

Speaking as someone who's collided with a wall (or two), she's smart. And as it happens, my car's got about 400 pounds of 964 sitting behind the transaxle.

In Texas they call that a closet... :lol_hitti
In Los Angeles, we'd call it a guest house. :)

The engine is finally out. It's sooo hot in south Georgia.
But at least my back is not hurting, and it's so gentle on my knees too.

Time for clutch, rod bearings, oil pan gasket and timing belt job. Maxjax is just perfect for my low ceiling garage. Still had about 2 inches of clearance to slide engine out.

What is that structure over the top of the car? Is it tying the two posts of the MaxJax together? I have an I beam crossing my garage and wondered about making a connection between the posts and the beam to increase stability.

I made it to tie the two posts together using the two existing holes on top od the columns. I had some suspect concrete anchors but had no time to cut and pour new concrete.
I feel more secure now working under the car. :bounce:

I think your design definitely adds to the safety factor, especially given your suspect concrete. Good work. I would do something similar if had a maxjax or a floor plate 2 post.

Scott,

it looks like the floor you cut for lift is too small. I thought they recommend 4'x4'?

are you the guy who's running bimmertools? I think I bought something from you long time back.
