I didn't make these but I'm a big fan of westling trays:

I have a few I've made for specific use cases - my go to bag has a set of semi deep 1/4" drive SK sockets that are on a rack I built. Took two of the snap on 1/4" rails, cut them to length, and welded them onto a piece of 1/8" steel that was painted green. Worked great, took up a minimal amount of space, and was painted bright green so I could see them easily (and no one else on the jobsite was going to have the same set up for them). I've done something similar for 3/8" sockets but added a T handle to carry them easily. I can get some pictures of them later on.

Always looking for the most financially responsible (aka cheapest) way that will suit my needs and hold up, and at least when I ordered them the Snap On (also proto works well) rails were surprisingly inexpensive. Sure its not a mechanics time saver magnetic rail, but I've also only got about $10 into the entire set.

I think a lot depends on what you're doing how you use them. I like these rails:

But while they're cheap, and they're great if you want to carry the whole set to the work or in a bag/box, they are not good if you want to just lift the sockets out individually. For that, I think the ones with posts or holes are better.

The rails I use (similar to above) are zinc plated steel. I like to space the set on the rail like I want them, cut the ends off and then solder the end clips in place.

I think if you have all that Sweet equipment you could cad design a sheet of aluminum for all your misc sockets and set it up so it optimizes the drawer space, then add the pegs! I don’t think it needs to be labeled as with usage you’ll know where the 1/2 or the infamous 10 mm socket is.
The big thing is once designed you can’t add to it unless you plan for expansion unless you use a modular rack system that fits to your specific drawer.

I use the Hansen 3 row plastic peg rack ( although it’s missing the 1 1/16 peg) and the New Olsa 3 row rack ( Olsa has more socket spots ) it is a round hole the socket sets in.

a peg style would be just fine

I like the wrestling style

Those are nice!

Funny, I never had any time for it or much interest in it when I was working and had a fabricating facility at my disposal.

thats what i came up with for sockets
First, I think your stuff is great. Not sure if you're looking for ideas or just want to show your work (nothing wrong with that) but because you have the laser, I would:

For extensions and ratchets and whatnot, as you're already using two layers of material, why not cut out the perimeters and kind of shadow board them?

This is just personal preference, but I would have made the socket rows alternate small to large to make the spacing between the rows more consistent.

Flicker, you might want to checkout out the “Everything 3-D printing“ thread, lots of ideas there.

Made another. This time for a tension/compression tapping chuck. I have a few collets and they have been rolling around in a Shaller bin. wanted a better way to organize and store what will be a full set #6 through 1/2. Spent some time in Fusion..

Some time for the X1C to do its thing..

As I learn to model things, I try to add more detail when it makes sense. The pockets for these collets are a great example. Tray turned out great.

I made this tray out of wood to hold my 1/4” drive extensions.

I bought the extension set on eBay. It didn’t come with the tray so I copied one from the Snap on catalog
I made the tray using basswood (it’s soft), using my Shopsmith in the drill press mode as an overarm router. I ran the at max RPM which was barely fast enough.

Very pleased with the results
