Sent a PM to Jeff about my TC order coming up, but wanted to put in the board and see what people think (e.g. missing anything, etc.)

- 21 oz Soft Face Dead Blow – Model 1
- 26 oz Soft Face Dead Blow – Model 2
- 45 oz Soft Face Dead Blow – Model 3
- 53 oz Soft Face Dead Blow – Model 4

- 26 oz Ball Peen Dead Blow – Model TCBP16
- 36 oz Ball Peen Dead Blow – Model TCBP24
- 47 oz Ball Peen Dead Blow – Model TCBP32
- 50 oz Ball Peen Dead Blow – Model TCBP40

- Stubby Ball Peen
- Stubby Flat-Flat

- Standard Flat-Flat

Not sure what colors are available for each product so awaiting an answer. Also, I hear there might be new colors coming out so I'd like to diversify, if possible. Also, asked about new products so we'll see what he says.

In any event, once the order is placed, I am going to have some serious gear if I ever need to break some kneecaps.

I'd probably tack on a Model 7. It's about my most used TC hammer. Nice and heavy but not too big. Well... it WAS my most used hammer but now I've got a Mini-Max!

I think I'd rather get the Mini-Max than the Model 7. Go big or go home I suppose lol

I don't know man, I just received my Mini-Max today. Freaking awesome hammer imo, but I have a feeling the Model-7 will get used more.

The Mini-Max is definitely a two handed mace. No one handing that beast.

I have the TCBP16 and TCBP24. I use the TCBP24 most of the time but if I need a light hit I'll use the BP16. I usually gorilla things and break them hence the need for some finesse.

I really don't need this right now...well, my bank account doesn't need this right now.

I've never heard of Trusty Cook; but I think I need at least one.

I'm not one to judge someone else's tool needs, but that is a lot of hammers.

Yeah, I've since come to my senses and decided to cut down my order a bit. Getting rid of all the ball peens, and the largest dead blow hammer.

Thinking my order will look like this:

- 21 oz Soft Face Dead Blow – Model 1
- 26 oz Soft Face Dead Blow – Model 2
- 45 oz Soft Face Dead Blow – Model 3

- Stubby Flat-Flat
- Standard Flat-Flat

you still need to add both buddyblasters to your order.

Unless you are working on something like an airplane engine, I would say the Buddy Blasters are not essential. The flat flat are what I am waiting for. Those will be very nice indeed. The mini max is a great hammer to have, seems like no one else offers anything like it.

Strouty: I think I've seen you post those pictures before on here. You must have a lot of kneecaps to break lol

That is a LOT of hammers... Do you really need all those incremental sizes for soft face dead blows either? What are using them for?

I think a good starting point would be:

16oz ball peen or flat/flat
32oz ball peen or flat/flat
stubby ball peen or flat/flat

Model 1 soft face
Model 3 soft face

My most used hammer is the 32/47 oz ball peen (TCBP32)... knocking rotors loose, driving pins or hardware with a punch and suspension work. Don't use the soft face too often, but they come in handy when you need to loosen diff, timing, valve, etc.. covers without damaging them.

While I love the green, they get way too dirty in my shop. I decided that the blue ones stay in the shop and the green ones go in the field boxes. This is why I have two colors. I need to set up a new family picture as I have added a few more hammers since these were taken.

I don't think anyone on this forum needs an excuse to buy tools.

Maybe... I love tools, but there's only so much money to spend. Especially when you aren't making a living with them. Not personal, but I think some people just like to show off, collect, have more money, or no other hobbies...

Personally I don't see any reason/need to have that many hammers... except body hammers if you do that kind of work or do a lot of fabrication. Nice to have, YES. Can you do without, Yes.

To an extent it is having money. Obviously if you have no money to spend you can't spend it on tools or anything else. But, it's using that money to get something you enjoy. There's ways to accomplish just about every job without a special tool. Some people get fulfillment from doing a job fast, some from doing a job "right", and some from doing a job cheap. It's just up to the individual. Way back when I found the really cheap TC made Estwing deadblows on Amazon, I told my girlfriend's dad about it and he said he'd never spend money on a deadblow. He'll just hit a block of wood with a sledgehammer if he needed to. Diff'rent strokes for Diff'rent folks.

Also, hammers are COOL!

Using that logic why by complete socket sets?

I used a block of wood to prevent damage from a steel hammer for years but after having some Trustys I wouldn't go back.
The buddy blaster is great for knocking heavy timbers around.

Disappointed!

I don't see any buddy blasters in your pictures below either. :willy_nil

I was one of the first to get a Buddy Blaster and a Mini Max, just did not post the pictures.

As far as buying tools that you may or may not need, well I know a lot of people that dump money on hobbies like sky diving. To me that is a waste of money. I also know a lot of guys that think having lots of beer is a priority, I prefer tools. There are a ton of people that smoke cigarettes or other items, those all cost money. I choose to buy tools.

I have looked on their website, and noticed they show only some of the hammers they offer. Is there a complete list with pics and prices available? GJ members discount is how much again?

20% for us, they are still adding hammers, but we have been offered certain ones before they are really available.

Agreed. Everyone has a hobby, whether it be a product (e.g. tools, beer, records, etc.) or an experience (e.g. travelling, sports, etc.). And most hobbies cost money, some more than others obviously.

I have had several hobbies throughout the years (e.g. vacations, records, watches, etc.). Do I need any of it to survive and live my life? Not necessarily. But it's nice to have and it makes me happy at the time. Personally, money is not the end game, it's the means to an end.

I wouldn't knock all the hammers Strouty has. It's his thing so go big or go home lol

Like I said, nothing personal... just my opinion. Socket sets are a little different, no? Only a 15 mm socket will fit a 15 mm bolt/nut (barring a fractional or pounding a socket on).

Same can't be said for hammers... they are more "versatile", one can "fit" many applications.

My company blocks third-party image hosting sites... so its not like I even saw Strouty's collection. Which must be LARGE judging by the responses :eyecrazy:

That was only a fraction of Strouty's collection anyhow. He probably can't even find all his TC hammers as they are stored anywhere there's room.

They are a bit spread out now, if it wasn't raining I would probably go and find them all, but I figure I have those pictures, so why not just take a few of the newer ones together. So I will try and arrange that. Of course I am waiting on my blue mini max, probably should wait until it arrives to take the new picture.

firworks, that might be a revelation for us all. Not that I'd ever turn down a return trip to Maine, but I'd go again during sea duck season.

Wonder of wonders is what I'm picturing his garage to be. With no doubt I'd be most impressed.

Now to get the elusive invite - only proper - before showing up unannounced.

Only scared as to what an overachiever has done. Ya know how ya go, "I'd like to have a meal with that guy just 'cause he is interesting?"

Strouty, you'd be the guy. 'Course I do believe this site has its more than fair share of good fellas that fit the question, still slightly shocked I seem to fit in.

I'm also looking forward to the flat-flat series. I like my TC DBBP's, but I think I'd use the flat-flats even more.

It is funny, I never really peen anything, but the way the hammers are shaped allows them to get into areas well, plus you get a bit more weight out of them. The flat flats will probably become my go to hammer, but I will never do away with my ball peen hammers.

I could agree with not using the peen. Richard threw me a flat-flat last week, I can see it being more useful.
