Hey guys,

Before the brickers come I am going to add a little pad to the back of the shop and build a compressor room on it. Due to the layout of the land the pad will hit about one block high on the back of the shop. I have a 2 block high wall and then my walls start on top of them in the shop.

I am concerned about water issues. My framer said I should put tar up against the building where the pad is going to be attaching and then put a piece of insulation between the new pad and my blocks. Everyone think this is a good layout? Any input would be great.

Come on guys some of you gotta know a thing or two about sealing exterior walls... I attached a pic of what i am adding. The insulation in the pic is against the block wall. The plywood is about at where the top of the block wall is and the framed wall begins.

So think I should tear the insulation off where the pad is going and roll on tar and then put the insulation back on over it? or should I just tape the joint in the insulation and pour some concrete?

Yea I plan on the slop. I actually will have a 1/2" sheet of insulation between the blocks and my new little pad as well.
