This forum has been greatly helpful in my garage build thanks to all the posters

I'm going to pour my garage floor next week the garage is already erected the only thing left to complete is the floor and the garage door

I'm going with hydronic heat so I have pex with 2 inches of foam insulation under it

Here is my question my garage is 30x30 with access only from the front

So I need to place the concrete further than what the trucks chute reaches

I dont want to rent a power buggy as it will probably chew up the pex and insulation by driving over it full of concrete

The concrete company will not pour into a chute/extension as they said it's not safe I really dont get it :dunno:

The chute is only 3 feet off the ground and 12 feet long :dunno: what is not safe about that

So it looks like i will be stuck with using a old trusty wheel barrow for most of this pour:(

Any advice what do u guys think

Do you have windows? Is the siding on? If not, make some access holes. Or get a lot of friends over because one wheel barrow won't empty a truck out very fast.

I'd check into a pumper.

They don't want the chute or whatever you have to fail causing further issues or problems for them.....think liability.

Check out YouTube and what others have done with buggies and pex when pouring.

I just had my son's garage floor poured. The garage is 36 feet deep. The concrete sub-contractor I used did two separate pours. He did the rear 12' x 21' section using a long chute he attached to the truck's chute with a short chain. It is commonly done in my area.

That's a new one on me. They obviously have some kind of hang up about placing with a chute but I doubt it's safety. Are they going to man the wheelbarrows? That will be quite a job on top of insulation and pex. As has been mentioned, you could get a pump.

Whatever you do, make sure they understand that you will permit no more than a 4"slump. When access is difficult, more water is often the solution. A mid or high range water reducer is a much better solution.

Give my Guide to Floor Slabs in the link below for some additional thoughts of the process. Good luck!

I recommend calling around to concrete supply plants to see if any of them have trucks with conveyor belts? Your contractor should know of there existence but perhaps they are tied to a different supplier who doesn’t have them? These belts can reach out to 40’.

From the original post I can assume that the pour has been made. If so tell us how it came out. We will be looking for your pictures.
