Yes it will but you need to use the original not the quick set. Might have to pre heat the part to about 100-150 to get the powder to stick depending on how thick the JB is and the gun your using. Ive done it plenty of times.

I remember reading you can also use their powder coat primer right over JB weld.

You must have way to much free time on your hands if you are worried about the paint on a chain saw. I have several dozen chain saws on the farm. Some are 60 years old. I would never bother painting one. That is a hoot. I would not even do it if I were trying to resell the tool.
You are only going out and tare it up anyway. Then again I don't restore machinery. I use it.

The yellow threw me off thats a big old beast.

Doesnt matter ive done magnesium engine cases and wheels. The only time you have to be careful is if you use a chemical stripper certain ones will attack it quick and eat it.

Will powder coating stick to aluminum part repaired with JB weld?
Yes. Standard 2 part JB weld can withstand up to 650 degrees and powder coating typically heats to 450 degrees. I used JB to fill a large hole on a break caliper bracket then powder coated the bracket. It was a cosmetic repair and remains in place today.
