I have a Hurst shifter in my Dune Buggy that the chrome finish pretty worn down from years of use. Since I have a black/white theme on my gauges I am considering PC'ing the shifter, white on the shaft and black on the grip and HURST logo on the shaft.

Does powder coating hold up to oils from your hand?

For sure. Powder coat it and itll last forever. Ive had my steering wheel and pedals done for years without issue.

Give Cuda Chick a shout. She'll tell you all about the powdercoat and how it will hold up. She is working on updating her website and just about all she does is automotive parts.

Seeing as Harley-Davidson powder-coats all of its engines, and Harleys are known for leaking oil (at least the older ones), I'd say powder-coat stands up to oil well.

Edit: grammar

Yes, if the powder coating is done correctly. If there are voids in the powder coat finish it will let moisture in and corrode from the inside, you might not note any damage for a couple of years, but then the coating will start flaking off to expose the rust.
