I had power company do a survey of my property to bring in 400 amp service for the shop/hanger I'm building and the new house that will follow. Both are all electric so they recommend the 400 amp service. I can come up with more than 100 amps in both the shop and house. My plan is to set the meter pedestal with two 200 amp disconnects (breakers) to feed the house and shop.
Can I just mount the 400 or 320 amp meter pedestal with offsets to two 200 amp exterior disconnects, one on either side and then into the house and shop with 2 runs of 4/0 Alum cable to 2 200 amp panels, one at each location? If so, what is the best way to do it and what equipment is needed at the pedestal?
