Power out notification (email, text, or app push)?

I recently had a load-shed module fail (or my our grid got off frequency, hard to tell now). The load shed module dropped power to my garage, 2 refrigerators, and a garage apartment (unoccupied). By some miracle, the damn garage doors are still on the house breaker, so I didn't notice the power being off. I noticed about 3 days later. :)

Anyone got a recommendation for something that notifies a smart phone when power goes off? My wifi stays up in the event of a power failure, as does my internet connection - both are battery and backup generator protected. House is Amazon integrated, but I can do Google also.

There are lots of IoT devices that can be programmed to notify when offline. Something as simple as a WiFi lightbulb might suffice if you're willing to leave it on and control it via voice. Or perhaps a plug in switch.

Im guessing you have a UPS powering critical computer loads.

How about setting up a UPS to notify you of an outage?

My eaton 5PX emails and texts me(via email to text carrier address) when the power goes out...

Yes, network, PoE devices, my office, and cable modem are all on UPS'. If the power goes down, a generator kicks on in a few minutes and UPS' cover power outages for that time period. If main power fails, I know about it.

What I need to know about is about a power failure on a particular sub-panel (which is fed through a load-shed device). Basically I want to know if that load shed device fails or otherwise stays off for some reason. The reliability of Generac's load shed modules - warranty is 1 year - and failures appear to be pretty common.

My server rack has a BlueBOLT device that notifies me when power is lost.

One inexpensive device that I have found also that notifies me is my Ring Lighting hub. When that looses power it sends out a notification also.

I came across this awhile back: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089QQNKJL/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Don't know anything about it as I never pulled the trigger on the purchase.

You might also look at iSocket. They have a 4G/5G cellular based solution but it's around $200 plus a monthly monitoring fee. Don't know if they have a non-fee based solution.

Google "power failure detector" and you'll come across some other options.

Thanks. My Ubiquity setup has a backup cellular option, I choose not to pay for it as we simply tether if it comes to that. But so far, when the power has gone down, internet stays up. (See above, all my internet / network is on UPS + generator backup)

I "accidentally" solved this over the weekend by installing a $25 Ubiquiti WiFi camera in the garage. When the power goes down, I get "camera disconnected" notifications.

Nice. What camera did you install? I use a wired outdoor rated Ubiquiti Access Point under the eave of my house so I can have Wi-Fi in the shop. Been thinking about adding some security cameras but didn't know Ubiquiti made them.

Ubiquiti's cameras are "closed ecosystem" so you need to buy their proprietary controller. And their cameras are substantially sold out for the last 1-2 years.. Great system, just hard to get their stuff. My whole network is Ubiquti - just super easy to use.

I installed a "G3 instant" camera - it's one of the few that isn't POE.
