Just got an email this morning about a deal on the Power Probe 3:
http://www.tooltopia.com/search.asp...PP319FTCGRN+or+PPR319FTCCARB+or+PPR319FTCFIRE

75.99$ for any of the colors in a hard case with free shipping. You have to put it in your cart to see the price. I found the same thing on Amazon for 89.99$, but at least I have to pay tax on Amazon purchases so this is quite a bit cheaper for me. I'm in a no spending on tools mode though lately so I'm fighting myself about this one. I've wanted a Power Probe for a long time. The case seems nice too for keeping all its bits and cables and things together.

I've always wanted a power probe, but can never decide between the regular set, w/ leads, or master kit. They have a good price on the master kit too $184.... but I am way over my tool budget this year...

Very tempting--problem is I've heard that using any type of voltage testers, especially on modern day cars can damage the ECU.

According to a instructional video i watched on power probe equipment.you can damage a vehicle computer if its not used properly! That info is for a member that posted earlier.anyway the power probe 4 looks interesting with the e c t 2000 circuit traced.all kinds of videos on what they do and dont do.

As with any electrical tool on a vehicle. I went ahead and bought one.

That was fast. Ordered yesterday morning, on my front porch at 10am this morning via fedex ground! (?) I'll have to buy more stuff from Tooltopia.

Yup. Got mine today as well. Tooltopia is hit or miss. Alot of times its lightning fast shipping, other times its agonizingly slow.

I'm interested in this, I just don't quite understand why I'd want this over my multimeter ?

This is more like an improved test light. It combines features of a test light, basic features of a meter, and jumper wires in a convenient and easy to use package. I'd rather use this when laying on my back under a dash than a meter.

These DEFINITELY have a place in electrical troubleshooting arsenal. It can be very useful if you know what you are doing. Can be dangerous in the wrong hands. If you do a good amount of electrical then it well worth the price. I use mine a lot. I have had it since the power Probe 3 came out. Since 2010 I believe. Definitely a well made tool as well. I may pick up the one for $62 without the case since I already have one
