Thinking about buying one of these, looks to be very useful in tracking down wiring issues or trouble shooting something like trailer lights.

Anyone own or used one? Opinions?

X2. One of the best electrical tools I have ever bought. I had to be talked into it and now I couldn't live with out it.

The Power Probe III is terrific. I recently got one after being presented with a '98 DeVille with a melted body harness. Made life a lot easier. The original I and II models were okay IMO, but the thing really became a thousand times more useful with the built-in DMM. Do yourself a favor and buy the lead set as well.

A great tool that is only as good as the person using it is skilled. Always use a wiring diagram with it to ensure you don't smoke some type of module. 12 volts may not seem like much until it's applied to the wrong circuit. :shocking:

I got mine from MAC last month.

They had a package deal, Power Probe III with the full test lead kit and the ECT2000 for around $300 Canadian.

It's probably cheaper for you guys south of the border.

I think mine was around $144 shipped (with the optional extra lead kit) from ntxtools. Be advised though, their shipping can be slooooow.

Just used mine today to figure out an audio system problem on a Mazda. Neat little tool. It doesn't really do anything that a digital multimeter and some leads supplying +/- 12v can't do - it just does it all in 1 convenient package.

I don't now how I got along with out mine for so long. It's great for trailer wiring problems too. Just be very carefull not to hit the + side of the switch at the wrong time! I'M STILL TRYING TO GET THE SMOKE BACK INTO THAT MODULE.

I got mine for $105 shipped on Amazon... the Snap on Guy sells them for $160..

The thing I do not like about it is if you have the car running at say 14.4 volts and something like a lock wire tests at 12.7 volts it will not beep due to the voltage difference... So you have to be able to see it... ***** for testing somethings.
