I have an electrician coming next week to install recessed lights. He has to run new lines from the basement fuse box to the garage for the lights. I figured to save money while he is doing that he can run a new line for a future ductless mini split heat/air system.
Those mini splits are about $2000 plus labor and I don’t think I can afford it till next season. If he runs the line now it will save me electrician costs later.
I don’t know much about those HVAC systems but I assume it would just be 220 supply line?

Condensing unit depending upon make model will be 15, 20 or 30 amp. Condensing unit to evaporator on Mitsu and Fujitsu is 14/3. Check with your manuf for specific evaporator specs. They do vary.

Thank you, but I don’t have a system picked out yet because it will be something installed next year.
The only reason I was going to have the electrician do it now is because he will have all the access to the walls while he is already running new wires for the lights.

I guess you can just have him run the main disconnect. The evaporator line can run with the line set when the time comes for that.
