Ok so are these both working like a Tapmatic and reversing when you pull back?

What's retail on each of these?

I recently purchased what you don't want - pneumatic - from Amazon. It's just got a rocker switch which works fine. I wish it had a little more RPM.

I'm doing 1/4-20 and I see the Metabo allegedly wouldn't do that, bottoming at M8

Both work similar to the tapmatic

12-24 the primary hole size I have to tap, about 22,000. Material is 14 gauge cold rolled with 12 gauge reinforcing plate behind it.

Metabo is $400, Fein is $900

I have used a pneumatic tap arm in the past and you can tap a part with many holes faster than the CNC machines could do the same. Or many small parts with a few holes.

Sorry I'm no help but I did not even know the electric tapping drills existed, so thank you.

I apologize I'm also no help with those brands, but for that material thickness and tap size you would be just fine with the proper tap chucked in a cordless drill. But if it were me I'd go with the cordless metabo

M8 is = to 5/16" which is > 1/4" so the Metabo is fine.

Did ya click the link?

"Thread diameter M8-M12"

So......I dunno how anyone is thinking it'll do 1/4" or #12??

I used a **** ton of 12-24 in my 4 stroke engine in school so I know what it is, despite the fact it's kinda like Latin - mostly dead ("to blave"?). The old-school engine print also called for a lot of #5 (1/8") which basically is completely dead these days from what I've seen :D. We substituted 4-40 or 6-32 there

Perhaps I live in an alternate universe?

And I don't know WHY the Metabo couldn't be adapted to UNDER M8. Presumably they don't offer a smaller collet for it, or perhaps they feel the clutch settings aren't light enough for something that delicate....maybe?
