I am looking for a supplier of good power tool cord.

A lot of my power hand tool cords are pretty shot my older porter cable and Milwaukee tools had a nice supple rubberized cord but after 20 years they are falling apart.

I would also like to replace most of the cords on my newer tools that use the vinyl, that stuff just cracks apart in the first year outside in the winter.

I just use regular old extension cords....My skil saw has a 25 footer...I never have to ad another extension when roof top or in yard... usually long enough.

I actually took a 100' and made 4 cords...adding a 90 degree, low profile plug.

The current OSHA regulations here say you can't have a replacement end on a cord or tool.

In this case just get the required length heavy duty extension cord, cut the receptacle end off and wire into the tool. Molded plug already in place.
Done this on several of my tools that I didn't want a replacement type plug on.

OSHA can go kiss my MFing ***. They show up on a job site and tell me that and I'll wrap that 12-gauge cord around their neck, shove the DeWalt Circ Saw up their behind , and then pull the trigger!

I replaced hundreds of plugs when I worked at the student union at UT. Extension cords, stage lighting, sound equipment, power strips...
I swear some people can break a plug by breathing on it!

I think ground lugs are designed to break off. Most of the plugs I have replaced still had good blades, but the ground pin was gone.

I got written up by an MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) inspector for a missing ground lug. He pulled the cord out of the recepticle and found the ground missing. I inspected the recepticle, and found the ground pin in there. He tore up the citation, based on the assumption that he had broken off the ground by pulling the plug!

There is currently nothing in federal OSHA regulations that prohibit replacement ends of cord (either extension or tool) provided that the repair is made by a qualified person. Some states may exceed this federal standard but that is state run programs - not OSHA

The cords are going on my personal use tools.

You practically have to have someone killed on a jobsite to have osha come out, they are severely understaffed.

Thirteen years working in a woodworking factory that had 3 amputations and not once did osha stop by.

You can find how many inspectors there are by state here.

i have been with the company i am at now for 10 years and it seems like OSHA has been in there every other year.
