Not real impressed with dewalt right now.
Bought a 20v 1/2" and 3/8" impact combo in september. One of the LEDs on my 3/8" went out. I called the service center and they said they would fix it and it'd take about 2 weeks. 2 F******** weeks? I use this thing every day.
So then I mentioned that I was still inside the 90 day money back guarantee. They said I can send it back and it'll take 6-8 weeks to process the refund. :wtf:

I've always had the opposite experience with Dewalt.

Sent a 20v recip saw in that had been dropped off a roof. Included a letter telling them what happened and told them I'd be willing to pay for the repairs as long as the repairs didn't exceed the replacement cost of a new saw. Two weeks later get a package from dewalt contained a new saw and a letter thanking me for my business.

Send a corded SDS hammer in that was 10 years old and simply worn out from use. Got a call in a week from a nice lady who explained they didn't have repair parts since it was a discontinued model. Offered me a comparable replacement model for half price.

Any repair facility has a backlog of work. Give them time to fix it. I guarantee they will make it right

Where did you buy it? A box store won't bat an eye to replace or refund it.

ebay.

Saved $100 and tax, but I guess that's the cost of customer service.

When I called Dewalt they said their immediate refund policy was 30 days unless the retailer had a longer return policy.

30 days is plenty to tell if the tool meets your expectations. The only reason retailers do it is because the other retailers do it.

I bet if you sent that in it would not take two weeks to fix, they say that to make themselves look good when it only takes a few days. The problem is that it will take at least 4 days to ship it there and back.

Did you by chance ask if it could be taken to a local tool repair shop for the warranty work?

The repair facility that told me two weeks is 15 minutes up the road from me. It is a factory dewalt store.

I know I am eccentric, but if my livelihood depended on the availability of a cordless drill, I think I would just buy another one and keep it as a spare one the other one is returned.

Hell go by the warrior from Harbor freight. 25 bucks.

It should last for two weeks until the other one is returned

A repair center with a huge backlog says a lot about product quality and service.

Made me think of this.

Two weeks is about what I would expect with a warranty repair. If your income depends on it having a backup would be a good idea anyway.

Starting to degenerate into another entitlement thread, from the sound of it.

They offered to fix it.

**** it up and deal with it instead of whining about it.

This reminded me that in 2015 or so when I bought my fien drill from tool nut it took me a year to find out it has an led on it that never seemed to work. Kinda wish I would have paid attention. I use it almost everyday a led would be nice.

Damn straight Im whining. Own tool for 2 months, breaks, 2 weeks to fix.

A previous poster was right, it probably won't take 2 weeks anyway for such a simple fix. That's probably just what they tell everyone.

It's not like my life depends upon the tool. I have plenty of others. But it did give me an excuse to buy the milwaukee, which I just ordered. I'll take the dewalt in for service when it arrives.

Even Milwaukee Tools says 7-10 days as turn around time for E service warranty work. Although the reality is those are actual work week days and you normally can't count the weekends. I had TWO warranty services done recently both had to ship from Vermont to Mississippi. Both were fixed AND back in my possession within the time they said NOT counting Saturday or Sundays in between.
