They have most sizes, price seems to bounce around. I doubt you'll find it anyplace where you can handle it before purchase, though.

Thanks for that link. It looks like quite and upgrade from the round head I saw in the store. I like how they add a bit more width to the handle to take pressure off of your hand. The head looks similar to the Husky flex head with QR at Home Depot. I was just looking at them a few days ago. The 3/8 drive is about $28. I like the low profile head. Not sure how either the Husky or Pro Tech hold up. I also like the detents on the flex part. It keeps it from flopping around.

That is only in the ultimate torque to price ratio. The Proto was purchased cheap at a swap meet.

If you look at the ultimate torque value where the ratchet broke, the Duralast was No. 1. Tied for 2nd place was the Kobalt and Gearhead.

I think the take away here is the pretty much everybody can make a strong ratchet mechanism and you can safely buy pretty much any ratchet that looks good, feels good, and fits your need.

First pic 3/8 x 17 flex on top, 1/4 x 9 flex middle, 1/2 x 9 bottom

2nd and 3rd pic SK 3/8 ratchet with Williams 15 mm socket, Pro Tech 1/2 with GP 15 mm, and HF 3/8 with GP 15 mm

I guess I should get some pics of the 1/2 with other 1/2 inch ratchets to really show how compact the head is

This. I've got lots of ratchets because of nuances and/or I just like tools.

And indeed, if you wrench all day everyday I understand tool truck brands. But for even the serious home gamer or part-time pro, just about anything from any major retailer is probably gonna last you 10 years minimum....

....says me as I was just shopping Snap-On ratchets on eBay 5 minutes ago LOL

Before buying Snap-On as hobbyist, consider the warranty.

If you buy a Tekton or Sunex, warranty is painless over the internet.

If you buy HF, just stop by their store and swap it out.

If you buy Snap-On, you need to chase down a surly truck driver who knows he will only see your problems and won't make any money off you.

All Good points! I always got a kick out of that guy on You tube who breaks ratcheted by putting a long pipe on them and puts all of his body weight into it. He has no controls or measure of torque values. "It broke" so it can not be that good.
I have fixed many of cars with those "Not so Good" ratchets."

I got an e-mail from PowerBuilt that ProTech tools are 30% off (discount appears in cart) through Friday, Aug. 16 at powerbuilt.com... meaning they might be a bit cheaper vs. Amazon... in case anyone is interested in trying them.
