Hoping someone here has some advice.
I picked up a powermate 5000 used and at the sellers house we ran it and he demonstrated that it worked by running a skill saw off of it. It was plugged into the twistlock of his house since we had a storm the previous week.
I got home and wasn't able to get any power out of it. I cleaned the grounds to the chassis and got 33 volts out of one socket, 78 out of the other and 128 out of the twistlock. The next time I start it I got nothing out of it.
I replaced the brushes, replaced the capacitor, and cleaned all the connections under the cover. I don't think the cover had ever been off. I even throttled it up but the additional rpm did nothing.
I'm great with small engines but generators are new to me.
Thanks in advance.
