I posted in another thread but figured i may get more responses starting a dedicated thread. Anyone with the Power probe able to comment on the warranty. I've been eyeballing them and looking at the probe iv master kit or getting the Maestro and also ect3000 kit. Tool discounters looks to be the best price with Amazon around 15 or more dollars higher. From some of the reviews I have been reading, people are getting the warranty denied on account of where it was purchased from. Power probe wouldn't honor the warranty because it was not purchased from "their dealer" and the sellers where telling the customer go back to manufacturer. Some of the reviews where from Amazon and granted some are third party seller but Amazon is also listed in the Power probe sight as one of their partners. I wouldn't really care about a tool under a hundred or so but we are looking at a few hundred and afraid of getting a dud from the get go. I know right now I probably would not use it for a while and hate to find out after a month or two its not right. Trying not to throw out names but it was mentioned JB tool was the seller that told the customer to go back to power probe and power probe said it was on the seller JB.

Avoid JB tools, this was the problem I had on a purchase of a bit set. It was incomplete. They refused to warranty it. The manufacturer did and stated that JB tools has authority to warrant stuff like this. Vim tools absolutely, JB tools never again!

I dropped my pp3 in a way that tip broke the circuit board, completely my fault and was out of warranty. I called manufacturer and asked about availability of new/used parts to fix it. They sent a complete new board for free. My customer experience was great.

I wonder if you bothered with requesting a return. If you read the conditions on their website, it does say the warranty is not their problem. IIRC, they do give you a certain amount of time to return anything defective. Worst case, you can always dispute the transaction if you paid with a credit card.

The place where I used to work at had a beat up shop PP3. The only thing wrong with it is the poorly patched up spot on the cable from when someone broke the cable. You are really going to have to drop the box to break it beyond repair. IIRC, it's only a one year warranty anyways and I highly doubt it covers abuse. Any tool I buy with a one year warranty I just treat it as a cost of doing business if it breaks after 1 year.

Thanks for the replies as I am looking for actually user experience with it and not someone that's getting it for free by putting a like on youtube.

Use one all the time in my shop for last several years...havent had any issues so cant say how they handle warranty. I have got my money out of it several times over so if it breaks I will order a new one in a heartbeat.
