Powerstroke on 2 post lift... Issues

I'm trying to lift a 2000 f-350. The truck is an ext cab, long bed, 4x4, dually. My lift is a Bendpak xpr10a. If I lift the truck per the ALI book id need more than 1 foot of adapters on the rear. The issue is further complicated by the oem running boards, therefor making me use a 6in riser on the front. All I can come up with is making a custom adapter. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something. Id rather not use blocks due to the frequency of lifting this exact model truck fleet of 15. Ive borrowed adapters from another lift (so id have enough) and I was able to lift near level but the amount of slop stacking them up was scary. The lift has a tag saying not to use more than 9in of risers iirc.

Thank you for your time

Chuck

I'd strongly recommend dropping Bendpak a message and asking them what to do. I know that were this me, I'd contact the lift maker for recommendations. That said I have adapters to lift almost everything (on my Rotary) but I know there will be exceptions and that side steps are a real problem on some vehicles.

if i remember right depending on the model there is only a handfull of bolts and maybe a plug for running board lights and they come off. Would this work to be able to use what is supplied with the lift. IMO the higher the adapters the more unstable and with that heavy motor in the front i wouldn't do it. Much easier to drop the boards and be done with it.

Yes, but if he has 15 of them to service on a regular basis I doubt he's going to want to do this every time he needs to change oil or something.

I agree with checking with the lift mfr, maybe they have a special adaptor or will make something for you - it would be worth it to buy special adaptors if they would make it safer to lift such a heavy truck without having to go to the work of removing the side steps. If not I'd follow Levimorris's advice and remove the part that's keeping you from using what the mfr normally recommends to lift the truck.

Let us know what you come up with, OK?

What a huge waste of time this would be for regular maintenance on fleet vehicles.

Hell, just forget the lift and go to a jack and jack stands and crawl under the truck to do your work.

I moved the steps on my F-350 up to accommodate getting it on lift. I think it was about three inches the holes were in the mounts. Still a pain on a fleet but it's a one time per truck pain.

Are these chassis trucks? 2wd or 4wd? I did the balljoints on my dad's 2k F250 4wd before Xmas and don't remember stacking adapters that high and he has the stock running boards on his. I have the regular XPR 10 albeit 168 height.

I made up longer adapters for my buddies lift.

I strongly suggest that you weigh those trucks before you lift them. My extra cab long bed SRW weighs 8k without my tools in it.

I have the bendpak XPR 10cx
here's how I lift my F250 ext cab 8' box............weight is 7400#
it is a bit unnerving, I can't wait to get the jack stands underneath it.

this is the drivers side, I welded up a special bracket on the left because its impossible to use the pads with the gas tank in the way..........I never of that 9" limitation, I've got 12" of adapters on both rear arms, its the only way to clear the running boards.

wow better hope a bird don't land on that rear bumper.........lol
looks like you have more than 9" of adapters on the arms?

Not really, I can hang off the bumper with no issue and have rocked it around pretty hard to make sure it was stable. Those trucks are stupid front heavy.

Probably right at 9" of adapter on the back, whatever the large and medium size ones added together are.

This is why 2 post lifts scare the hell out of me, and is why I bought a 4 post. 12" of adapter pegs?? Wow..........

Where the hell did all the weight come from on these trucks??
I noticed this awhile back and did some comparing. My 96 2wd standard cab F150 XLT is listed at 3885lbs, which is pretty close according to the landfill scale. A 2014 standard cab 2wd f150 shows as weighing 4900lbs. Some of the bigger ones have grown even more.
Where is the 1000 extra lbs at, and why the hell do we need it??

My crewcab SuperDuty is exactly why I bought a 4 post lift. It is nice to drive on, open the door straight out, and raise it up.
