PPG Epoxy - Porter Paints

Hello GJ members,

The data below is from my local Nissan MFG site with over 2 million sq.ft. of flooring that has coatings of various types.

PPG is Nissan's preferred coating when it comes to epoxy.

1. Shot blast or Grind the concrete.
2. Water rinse the floor well and then **** up the water.
3. Let the concrete dry out for 48 hours.
4. Apply 1 coat of PPG Epoxy 2 part (95-245) Tint to almost any color
5. Apply 1 coat of PPG Urethane 2 part (95-812)
Done unless you want to keep gloss, UV protect or use flakes.
If you want to use flakes tint Step 5 Urethane to Step 4 Epoxy color and apply another coat of clear Urethane 2 part (95-812) on top of Step 5.
If you want to add UV protection or keep the gloss shine apply one more coat of clear Urethane 2 part (95-812) on top of Step 5.

PPG Epoxy (95-245) can be tinted to almost any color
PPG Urethane (95-812) can be tinted to almost and color

(95-2400) 1 Gallon of Part A Epoxy is $54.00

PPG does not MFG any flakes so you will have to source them from another vendor.

We was also suprised that our local paint store had the product and our family friend had information that important to others on this forum wanting to apply Epoxy and looking for a valid source of use on the floor coating.

Nissan just expanded with another 1 million sqft of concrete to build the new electric Leaf vehicle. That area has multiple colors of PPG epoxy product. Last night I was informed they use PPG 2 part MEGASEAL SL (Self Level) 100% Solid on the yellow safety lines. I thought it was because of abuse but he said PPG MEGASEAL was tough to work with but was a one coat Yellow and most all other epoxy MFG's they tried was minimal 2 coat with yellow. They use the PITTHANE 95-812 70% Solids Epoxy in break rooms, maintenance rooms, MFG areas, foot traffic areas and said it is as tough as the MEGASEAL SL 100% solid but was so much easier to work with and a ton of $$ less. They use the PITTHANE 95-812 70% Solids the most by volume. He explained they use the PITTHANE Epoxy on utility carts, handrails, exterior grates, and many other metal surfaces. Also said Porter paints and many other vendors that sale the 100% MEGASEAL PPG Epoxy will not sale it to DIY's due to installation issues and returns from people that do not follow directions correctly or have experience with the timing of A to B mixing.

I did not ask about warranty nor did he say they had any issues. I also did not ask anyone at the paint store or look on the web about warranty.
