Does anyone know much about what PPG offers in epoxy coatings, and what is best to go with under their lines?
A neighbor works under the industrial side and said he could get me whatever I wanted for my 20x20 garage addition, but I haven't found a lot of first hand information/reviews from those who have used it.
Can anyone offer any insight?

Also, what is the best finish to have the concrete guys put onto the slab for optimum results? All suggestions, tips, & tricks welcome to make this go as smooth as possible!

Thanks,
Luke

I just used PPG aquapon 35 as a primer. I rolled it all on as I was concerned I would not have enough. I was impressed for the price. I had them dye it blue as I was doing blue epoxy. covered nice and solid. Its sold in 2 parts 50/50 mix. So 2 gallons covers about 500sq ft for about 100 bucks. One coat with a roller on bare concrete and it was all covered. I'd recommend getting 2 sets with yours and squeegee it on in 2 coats. Not a lot as far as diy instructions that I found.
Not sure what else they might have out there with clear coats and if you can put on color chips.
Id have the concrete guy finish smooth and then you after use acid etch.

Thanks for the reply, Kaizen.
You will have to forgive my ignorance on this subject; I am just starting this endeavor. So the aquapon is used as a primer, what did you put over it? a topcoat of epoxy (What brand?)

Thanks!

I used epoxy-coat. Bought through lowes. Search on line on their site and you can see different sizes from 250sq ft and up. They have both the epoxy only kit and the epoxy with clearcoat which is what I got. I had a couple good threads from here on the process. epoxy-coat does not say you need a primer coat. but if you put down epoxy what happens is air trapped in holes eventually gets out making bubbles. So its better to have those bubbles in the primer where the epoxy then fills without the bubble in the final coat.

Like I said the ppg is an epoxy. I didn't find anyone with long term use experience using just the ppg. for the money its cheap. honestly if I had found that before I got my top coat I might have just used that.
There is a ton of products. Really depends on what you want to spend. One thing with my install of a dark blue and flakes was the flakes were really hard to get right. you can see pics in the other thread here on my problems with one section.

I have used their 456 HS (high solids) several times. I have also used their polyurethane as a clear top coat as well as an exterior coating having it tinted and following up with it as a clear coat. Never had issues with any of their products.
