I have a friend whose painter is putting down a coating from PPG.
It is supposed to be from their industrial line.

Does anyone have experience with ANY coatings from PPG for use in a residential garage? If so, what was the experience and quality of the product. I think the product is called MegaSeal.

Any info or shared experiences are appreciated.

I’ve used PPG coatings in both my garage and shed. High solids epoxy and polyurethane top coat. It was their Sigma range. No issues in both situations and coming up on 5 years. I also coated a previous shed at my last house in only high solids epoxy and that looked good after 9 years before selling.

Prep is the key!

I have used PPG quite a few times with great results. I can't say anything bad about them, do you happen to know which exact products he's using?

Their “SL” is pretty good. Self leveling, 100 percent solids. Product data sheet says max 30 mils, but on jacked up floors I’ve doubled or tripled that without problems like bubbling, scrawling, pigment issues. Is kinda weird though, it separates a bit, kinda like big fish eyes. After you get it out of the bucket and spread it out, need to walk around and baby sit it a bit and re squeegee where it opens up. Modulus of elasticity and tensile strength ok. Holds up to fork lift traffic...think I pay $300 a 5 gal kit here in CA. probably bending me over...
