Hi all...

I have been doing research for a pre made workbench that is at least 30 inches in depth as I feel the standard 24 inches is too small for my needs. I am interested in only buying a solution rather than a diy project as the time to build it, cost of materials with covid has gone up, and necessity of certain tools which I don't have to make it a real nice finished product, all of which I don't want to deal with. Also looking to incorporate some cabinets both lower and upper in the future plan, so I have been looking at options that will satisify both current and future additions.

So far I can only come up with the Lista:

lista-xstb12-72bt
lista-xstb112-72bt

Both of which is pricey new and seems ridiculous for what it is. I get paying for quality vs junk but this is just too much.

Therefore looking for anyone's suggestions on what might fit the bill without being junk and costing a fortune.

Thanks in advance...
J

Buy the legs and the top separately. Grainger is one source.

Thanks for the idea Lynden!

How do you suggest you attach the top to the legs? I see the legs come pre drilled but wondering what fasteners would one use so as not to come through the top while also being a stout connection?

My maple workbench is 30" deep. I bought the legs and top from Uline, IIRC. The top is held on with lag screws. I've disassembled it a number of times over the years to move it, and the screw holes are still fine. I've had that bench at least 30 years. Now that it's my 'pretty' bench, I should sand it down and refinish it one of these days.

Global Industrial is my favorite source for this. They have a number of options in the 30" deep range. I built a workbench using their butcher-block top (30" x 48") and then attached 700lb capacity tool box casters to a DIY frame. It's nice to be able to roll it right up to where I'm working in or around the garage.

Which top would you be getting and what thickness?

I wound up going with the following setup from Tennsco.

I was going to do the separate approach of buying the legs and the top separate but then saw this on Zoro for cheaper than anywhere else so I went with it. PLUS I got 10% off for new customer which added more savings.

Thanks for the help guys!
