Precision Tool post for Wood Lathe?

So an old friend asked (allowed) me to deconstruct his Father's woodworking 2 car garage. Here I am in a 40yr pile of woodworking stuff I know very little about. Most I can find on Google but I've come across what I can only describe as a precision tool post for a wood lathe? See pics please I have no idea what to value it at, nor the lathe for that matter. Any ideas of where I should start? Thanks.
