Prefab Amish garages?

I don't have time to build my own garage and have gotten quotes from a few contractors. Now I am looking at the prefab Amish modular garages from PA. Does anybody have any experience with these? They obviously are more expensive than if I were to do it myself but also a lot cheaper than the quotes I was getting even after I add in the cost of a good foundation. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I had a 30x40 shop built by them in central Illinois. 2x4 stick walls with windows a 16x8 garage door and a 36" side door. 10' ceiling's. I poored the concrete because my son is a finisher. They showed up at 7am and we're gone at 4pm same day. The shop is finished just like my house, same siding and roof. IMHO it is the only way to go. Top quality and cheaper than my builder had quoted me who was building my house at the same time. I did the interior including the 200amp service. They have their own factory that makes the walls and truses. The only power tools they used were air nailers. I think there were six of them. Great quality.

Not sure were the OP is located, but my garage was built by Stoltzfus Structures in Atglen, PA. I have been very happy with this building.

It's a 3 car, two story building. It arrived on a trailer with the walls, trusses, etc pre-built. 4 guys, 2 days and it was up.

I know they also make garages that are prebuilt and arrive ready for use...I would recommended them without hesitation.

If the OP wants to see mine...they're welcome to stop by...

I'd also add that the pre-fab garages (in my experience) can be built with or without a wooden floor. In my area, we cannot have a garage with a wood floor...must be cement.

Lots of them around me in eastern PA -- go look at a few. It's a great way to go -- they are nice looking buildings. They build everything from small outbuilding to huge horse barns/ stables.

Most are wood Board/ Batten -- we have restrictions building pole barns/ metal structures.

I'm not exactly sure what outfit in PA built my prefabricated garage because I purchased from a local distributor that I worked with to customize it to my exact specs. The building is 17'x27' and it came on a specialized trailer delivered by the distributor. Building was assembled using a crane in about 6 hours. The siding was done in another day and a half..

Very good construction and they stand buy everything. I had a few issues and they are in the process of reso;vying them.

We have a large Amish population around here and several of those places where they sell their prebuilt structures. Everything from chicken coupes to large sheds/garages. IMO they're built very well. Generally, from what I've seen, they've used good materials and good craftsmanship. My 50x100 pole barn was put up by a 5 man crew in 5 days and I can't tell you how impressed I was.

So this was a panelized build? I can get Mennonite built sheds around here but as I understand it they're limited to 14' wide and there are even times of the year they don't allow that wide of a load through.

I came across about 2-3 websites. Just search prefab garages or prefab Amish garages. The one that looked promising was Rockymountain and they ship to the 48 states.

I was looking at one of the modular ones. Basically comes ro the site in two haves with the roof folded down on hinges. Then they line it up lift it up and bolt it together.

They were in strong contention to do our garage but we went with a family friend that would beat the amish prices. I do know of a few people that have used them and I would not hesitate to use them in the future. Made just the way I would make it myself.

Yes, It came on a specialized trailer that had the ability to go sideways (just amazing). You can see that capability from the picture. The operator had the bed lifted to take off the pallet straps in the first picture.

There was two pallets, one with the building and one with all the accessories like siding, man doors, shingles and some trim. I wanted specific windows and garage doors to match the house so I supplied the two garage doors and the power operated awning windows and the casement window.

The walls are 2x6 and 9' tall, the front door is 9' and side door is 8.5' and the building is 15' to the peak and 460 sq ft. all sheeting is CDX. All wood looks to be premium material. This is the biggest and tallest building I could get a zoning variance for.

If anyone would like to see more of the construction I'll upload some more pictures of more detailed look at the sides or unfinished interior or whatever detail is requested. This was middle of last summer when the garage was constructed. I then did electrical and R-19 insulation, reconfigured the fence, paved the driveway for the front garage door and some in the side garage door. Then I did a bluestone walkways before the cold weather set in. I'm almost ready to do the ceiling and interior walls in a few weeks.

I looked at the website and the price is double what I paid for a metal garage Installed.

There have been Amish moving into my area in the last couple of years. One family is a half mile down the road, and has a saw mill. Last year they built a garage.shop on a nearby farm, and have been rehabing a nearby house. Their work looks to be quality, and if I needed a structure, I'd consider them

The Amish generally do excellent work.
One caveat for the smaller garages---If you are looking at one of the completely pre-built, and shipped to your location structures with a wooden floor---they are not suitable as garages. Ok for workshop, but if you are storing vehicles in them, they need a fire-proof floor. Think of storing a vehicle on a wooden floor and there is a small ( or large) fuel leak---it soaks into the floor and if it finds some source of ignition--it burns fast. That is why the Code requires garages to have fire-proof ( concrete) floors. I used to store my garden tractor in such a shed until I though about fuel leaks,,and moved the tractor outside.
You could probably pour a couple of inches of concrete or rock-crete over a properly prepared wooden floor, but the builder should know this in case the floor needs to be strengthened.

This is who built my garage...I think it's featured somewhere on the site. I can't speak highly enough of these folks.

Matt,I agree these guys are top notch, they have built two sheds and a garage
For me and there was never an issue with anything.I've referred them to tons
Of people and everyone who used them has been happy.Gideon and jonathan
Are who I've dealt with and you won't find a more stand up company.you get exactly what you pay for with them.
