Try this. Trust me

A big handful of sugar. Then a nice squeeze of dawn.

Absolutely clean. And hands are soft.

Take about a tablespoon of vaseline, and work it in, make sure you get into the edges of your nails and into the knuckle ridges, etc. As you rub it in, it will dissolve and float all of the grease out. When you don't see any more on your skin, wipe it off with a paper towel, throw that away, and wipe again with a shop rag. If not 100% clean, put a bit more on and do it again, concentrating on rubbing it into the areas that are still stained.

When you are done, your hands will still be soft, and all clean. Doesn't dry out and crack your hands like solvent type cleaners such as gojo do or like detergents do.

If you rub some onto your hands before taking on the grime, it helps it not penetrate the pores of your skin, and they really clean easily.

Best solution is to wear nitrile gloves before getting your hands dirty. Peel them off and you'll have minimal or no cleanup to do.

I'm another who switched to Kresto and never looked back.. It's the stuff with walnut shells in it. It blows GoJo and any other orange cleaner I've seen away.

I buy it in the 2 liter bags and have a dispenser in the bathroom at my shop and in the laundry room of my house.

I use GOJO wipes. No plumbing in the garage and it avoids me trashing the guest bathroom just inside the interior garage door. They work really well even when I'm really greasy dirty.

Another vote for Zep cherry bomb here.

Don't understand why all the parts places carry it, but none of them have it on display for some reason, at least around here. Have to ask for it.

Sometimes have issues getting the bottle pump to work right if it has been sitting though.

In a pinch Dawn will work ok if you scrub it in really well before hitting it with water.

I call Gojo and Fast Orange dirt polish.

For general grease and grime I use orange goop. For tougher loads I use carb cleaner or wash my hands in the parts cleaner.

I got a couple bottles of Snap-on Nitro Gold pumice hand cleaner for free awhile back. Also was able to scrounge up a dispenser for it. Scrubs the hands a little too hard sometimes, so in those cases I'll mix in a squirt of whatever liquid hand soap is on the sink.

I dipped a bare hand in the carb cleaner just once. Every bit of skin peeled off a couple of days later. Kerosene works pretty good.

ZEP TKO is the best I've used with Stoko's Kresto as a close second. They're kind of spendy but a little goes a long way and they's light years ahead of the store brands like Gojo.

An old guy who owned a motorcycle shop told me uses the big cheap box of laundry detergent from any dollar store and keeps that next to his sink. Been doing that for years..

I spent over 40 years printing. One thing I learned was not to use any strong solvent, especially in winter because it will dry your hands and the dirt and grime will be much worse. I would use a cheap waterless for when I needed to get the worst off my hands and for a thorough cleaning it was Micro-Brush. I don't know if it is still available but it did a good job of getting under the nails and over the knuckles.

I know you asked for the best, but the worst is GOJO Cherry Jel.
It's red, and my hands are dirtier after I use it than before. Junk.

Used Boraxo for years. One of the shops at work we have that, fast orange in the other. Currently using worx at home as a gallon was gifted when my gallon of fast orange ran out. Going back to Boraxo when its done.

Most people don't use fast orange/gojo type soaps correctly and have less than ideal results. Read the label and have good results...least that's always worked for me. I'm going back to Boraxo because it takes up less room in the bathroom and I can hide the can since my younger son adores pumping half the jug of soap on the floor to see the color.
I've used all the tried and true over the years and Boraxo was my favorite with lava being too abrasive, otherwise everything essentially works....except gloves. I go through too many in a day with all my distractions.

Haha, Corn Huskers lotion was a huge running joke because of its appearance back when I worked at a grocery store. Never saw anyone buy it, but every store worker knew what it was. It ended up being our slang term for male juice. That being said, good to know some people out there use it.

Whatever it looks like, the stuff works great. Function over form. With the types of work I do, soft hands would get torn up (Small construction company, plumbing is my specialty, but I do enough woodworking to have dry hands. And automotive work at home for fun). So my hands would always be grungy down deep. I have tried all sorts of stuff. Hand cleaners, Boraxo, Tide, Dawn, Lava, thinners/solvents, etc. As a young man I tried regular hand lotion at my wife's suggestion & got my hands all ripped up. All the products got the surface stuff off, some easier than others, but deep places in dry hands wouldn't come clean. Pre-filling any cracks, pores, & nail edges in advance with a clean, non slippery, non softening product has been the problem solver for me for over 25 years. Nothing else comes close.

When I worked in a shop years ago, we tried everything. We found the Snap On antiseptic orange hand cleaner with pumice in the metal cans to work the best. I used to buy it for home use, still have the wall mounted pump. They used to sell individual 4.5lb cans...then went to only selling cases of 4 cans. I really don't need 18lbs of hand cleaner laying around, and don't really have anyone to split a case with anymore.

I really like Lava. Cheap and convient.

WD40 works really well too. If my hands are really nasty I will spray them down and wipe clean before going inside. Leaves your hands soft as well.

Carb and brake cleaner make my skin peel like a sunburn.
