I went to my first estate sale this past weekend and while looking for some other stuff that was listed in the CL ad, I came across this old vise stuck under some stuff in the guys nasty garage.
Turned out to be a Prentiss #26 vise. When looking for more information on the old girl, I came across this website. Not sure why, but there isn't much information on these vises. So I was hoping the experts here could help shed some light on my find.
I did clean up the rust and grime. I used a soft wire brush on chucked into my drill and went slow. I wanted to make sure the parts functioned correctly and there was nothing broken.
I am wondering if I should keep the vise. To be honest I have a small Wilton bullet vise that serves me well. I am also wondering if I should paint it or leave it in the raw. What would be an estimated value of the vise in the condition it is in?
