I'm pretty sure I saved this from the scrap pile and hopefully I can have a little luck finding the part to make it useful again.

it is missing the interior vise nut or spindle nut that the screw goes into is the big problem. I might be able to use one off another Prentiss part vise i have if it's the same size one. Even though they are smaller vises than this 100 pounder the screw for this one looks close to the same. so will check that out later or if anybody has one just PM me with price shipped to 98166.

another issue is the busted off dynamic removable jaw that has the broken screws still in the holes. I'm pretty sure Kevin (KMScott) has or can make me a nice pair of jaws, but first I need to get the busted screws out.

the plan is to spray the broken screws with a little Kroil and let them sit until this weekend. then try one of my easy outs and hope they screw out and the threads are still in good shape. any other ideas that might work better if my method doesn't sound like the best one i'm all ears. hopefully i'll have a good result and move forward to saving a 90 year old tool.

I was thinking if the broken screws don't come out or the threads are damaged or missing that I could tap a couple new holes just off to the side of the existing holes. then maybe have Kevin make a jaw that would fit those new holes, but I haven't talked to Kevin to see if he is able to do that. hopefully this won't be necessary and crossing my fingers.

I do like these old Prentiss vises and might just take it down to bare metal and wax it before mounting it on a bench I have with a stainless steel top. any help or comments are always appreciated. or just watch my new adventure.

You can either fab one up, or locate a similar vise that is not worth saving and use the part from it.

That's an AWESOME vise and worth saving. Try the vise parts swap thread here.
