Prentiss Vice

i have a Prentiss Vice labeled No. 10.

In looking at all the postings and charts on this vice company I do not see a vice listed with this No. 10 on it. Does anyone have information on this vice. It is very big and heavy and has a 4 1/2" head.

Clinker: can you post pictures of your vise? also what is it you would like to know? how much does it weigh? swivel base or no swivel? any cracks or welds?

A 1920 catalogue listing shows the Prentiss no, 10 as a 'woodworkers' vise', 'stationary bottom', swivelling back jaw, 4-1/2" jaw width, 9-1/2" max jaw opening, weight 59lbs.

The list price for it, in 1920, was $25.00.

The 'woodworkers' vises, also called 'coachmakers' vises', had high, smooth jaws.
