Prentiss vise ID help

I have this Prentiss vise, to me it looks like the swivel jaw type but is missing the lock pin. I've had it for a very long time and got it for next to nothing way back when. I was cleaning it up with a wire brush this week in hopes of selling it.

The rear jaw is frozen in place, not sure if I should try to free it up or leave it as is.

There's no casting numbers on the vise that I can find. Nothing on the sides. The jaws are 4.5" wide, and the vise is on a swivel base with spring-loaded lock pin on the side.

What model is this? Any help would be appreciated!

I can not tell if it has replaceable jaws like my Prentiss # 20, but my jaws measure 5/8 x 1-3/16 x 4-1/2 wide. You will have to send it to a machine shop to machine out the 3 degree/side pin hole, I have specs on the pin if you need it. Just send me a Private Message. I have been told that if the text is where yours is then it is a old vise like the picture.

Dayid.org's ( http://dayid.org/mediawiki/index.php/Prentiss_Vise ) database doesn't seem to have it. Below is a pic of my Prentiss No 3 which yours looks very similar too, though yours has a swivel base. My No 3 is also 4.5" wide. The database goes from No 6 then to No 18, so I'm assuming theres a few models missing - which is about where I would guess yours is. On the No 19 on the site, you can see all the writing on the side of the vise, which yours does not have. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you - but it must be in that model range. Hope someone else might have a better answer for you, great looking vise, and I'm sorry to hear your planning on selling it... Where you located? ;)

I'm located in SE Wisconsin.
Reason for selling is that I have come across larger Parker and Wilton vises I like better, so I can pass this one along to the next owner for many more decades of use.

The jaws are not removable.

It looks from the pic like there is the remnants of the old pin still in the vise and if that is engaging the jaw that would keep in locked.

I'd either leave it and note that to any potential New owner, of if you (Or they) want to remove it, center drill it, tap it, and run the threaded shank of a good quality bolt int it, and use that to jack it out with a nut and washers/spacers.

You can tell it's one of the "OEM" style's made by Prentiss because of three things. First, it doesn't have the model number printed on the side, second it doesn't have replaceable jaws, and third it doesn't have the reinforcing bosses on the front.

Yeah it looks like something is stuck in that hole. Pull the slide out and see if you can poke it out from underneath.
