I just bought a very nice condition Prentiss @ the flee market. Its got 4-1/2" jaws, #52 Bull dog. I'm going to resell it, so I would like to know its value. Thanks for your time.

Which Prentiss? Size and weight are everything to a vise. A Monarch will never map to Bull Dog for value all things being equal.

EDIT I see, it's a Bull dog.

Google Eprey and target maybe 75% for a local sale?

A 52 is a 4-1/8" jaw and only 42 lbs. (a 54 is 5" and 72 lbs.. see what difference less than an inch makes?)

Nothing comparable on ebay, thats why I asked here. I'm thinking asking 125 and take 100, but don't want to screw myself if its collectable or special.

I think you are in the ball park if it's cleaned up and looking good, no serious damage. Hard to really say for certain without pics.

Paid $75 for my Prentiss Bulldog 524 with the original swivel lock handle and jaws in great shape.
I paid $75 for my other unmarked prentiss coach makers vise...came out of the Blatz brewery.
Hope that helps...a picture of yours would help us!

I would imagine that $70 - $110 would be doable. Of course the swivel bases usually bring more by a few dollars (maybe $25 -$40) but that is the 90 series of Prentiss. Good luck with your sale!

I paid about $120 for my Prentiss #92 off of eBay a couple of years ago. It's the same model as the #52 but with the swivel base (as Catalyze mentioned).

I thought I got a fair deal for a vise in great condition. Certainly not a killer deal.

Condition is everything. Keeping the vise for your own use is the other factor, vs. buying for the sake of reselling.

Good luck -

Dave

Thats what I do, buy and resale. I like how Cat did the letters, did you use a small artist brush? I picked up 2 nice C-mans this am, now I have 5 nice 1s to sell. I keep a Columbian for my own use.

Most guys use a paint pen on the raised lettering. You can get them in a wide assortment of colors at just about any department or hardware store.

What is my chance of finding a base for a Prentiss #22 numbers on top of vise and a 6 inch jaw about 165 lbs looks like someone dropped of a bench and broke wear the bolt holds down the vise and I don't have the other part

I don't know much about these thing's, but I just got this monster from a yard sale for 70$ and I feel like I stole it. Works perfectly although I have not tried to move the jaws.

For $70 that's is a good deal you will never need another vise if you don't abuse it and that one can take most abuse. But you will find that once you have it cleaned up and mounted to your bench you will want another one then another another etc etc etc :bounce:

Nice vise, but a couple rookie mistakes. That vise does not have 9" jaws, measure the width, probably about 4-1/2". As far as max opening, it needs to be a safe working measurement with the slide and the screw still fully engaged, not at the point just before the jaw falls on the floor. That one is likely about 7".

Stop opening as the end of the slid just disappears, into the body, no further...

Or fully close it and measure the "tail stick out" - Same diff.
