Prep for floor w/ deep pitting and cracks

Any tips for prepping? I'd like a smooth surface. Time and effort are not a concern, looking for suggestions on how to make the solution last a long time (done right).

Are you suggesting the tile because prepping/epoxy is a lost cause?

Not a lost cause. It can be done. However, I think the cost would far outweigh the end-result. You could probably use the tile and have it licked in one day for 2.50 per square.

The really bad area may have to be pre-filled but the rest of it could stay as is.

I've began looking into porcelain tiles. I cannot find any reasons not to choose it.
