I'm repainting a set of rims for my truck since the ones on there have seen better days, not my first rodeo redoing rims, but i'm wondering what type of prep i should do to the plastic center caps before shooting them. They are OEM Toyota center caps, which are plastic, and i'm using a 2 stage urethane paint. It is not a show car/truck so things dont have to be perfect. This is the paint i'm using: https://tcpglobal.com/collections/graphite-grey-metallic/products/rsp-ub2105-kit-q

Degrease & clean, scotchbrite, degrease & clean, plastic adhesion promoter, then the same steps you're using with your rims

Would i still need the adhesion promoter if the paint on the center caps is in very good condition without any bare plastic showing? Attached is what i'm painting although they have some light wear.

In that case just scotchbrite & clean well then use the same steps as you plan on using with the rims
