Those are actually Monogram/AMT scale model kits. With a little oil for authenticity. But seriously, I didn't know that stunt planes were so small. Makes sense -- HP to weight ratio and all.

Reminds me of a friend's place that was in a fly-in community next to Lake Palestine/Tyler, TX. He had a slew of "toys" in his garage/hanger.

Where’s the Vette ZR-1? Two post lift? Beer fridge? 85” TV? Cigar smoking chairs?

The airplanes are nice though

That is not a garage...it’s a hanger.

Garages have all kinds of stuff and **** in them...maybe a plane as well, but at least some friggin’ tools or a lawnmower!:lol_hitti

I don't see any Snap-On tool box, no two post lift, no welders, no Bridgeport mill. Different strokes for different folks.

I don't like flying (I do when I have to), but I love trains. No envy from me unless you have a locomotive in your shop. Now that would be awesome..... to me!

I suspect he may not do any of the work himself.

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
I just looked uup the number on the biplane, says it's a homebuilt Javelin Wichawk - has pix of it if you google the N number... Both it and the Vans are smallish homebuilt airplanes, tho they look a LOT bigger in the pix than in real life.

Also looked up the Vans, he's not the builder, so it's likely wither he doesn't work on them, or they're staged there. Either way - it's staged to make the hangar look a LOT bigger than it really is.

I did the same thing. The plane is registered to a house with a hangar at the other end of the airport. I bet he had a couple friends put their planes in his hangar just for the great looking photo. I also agree that the two small home builds he has in there would also make the hangar look bigger than one regular sized plane. A friend has an RV3 and the plane is tiny.

See the oil stains on the floor. That’s where the engine usually is for his 4 place airplane that probably takes up a big chunk of the hangar.

Here is a photo of an RV3 with someone standing next to it.

From someone that’s had a plane in his garage, it’s not that big of a deal. I’ve also had a vette in my garage. Between the two I’d rather have the airplane.

Editors note, the plane didn’t have the wings on it at the time it was the garage.

That’s nice and all, but I prefer single story houses.
If I have to have a two story, I don’t want staircases that have a turn in them. It makes it difficult to move furniture.

Not to burst your bubble but we have members here with far nicer shops and more toys then that right here in the garage gallery. Including several with airplane hangers.

In fact I was just reading a thread from a guy who’s turning a hanger into a shop/studio. It’s coming along nicely!

Last time I saw a “garage” like that, it had a massive grow operation under it.
Needless to say, they made use of the private airstrip next to it.

Sorry, not envious. That's no a garage, it's just some rich guy's showroom.

People DO things in garages- like fix, modify or create. That guy only has just enough tools to change the oil and plugs in the planes.

That's the kind of guy that pays other people to come over and do the work on his stuff. That space is more akin to a storage closet than a garage. :D

They wouldn't want me in that neighborhood. With a little VHT that runway would make an excellent test track for the dragster. I can always put a wing on it and say stuff like "It's got a wing, what's your problem?"

My BILs hangar looked nothing like that. The plane took up less than half the space while the rest was filled with his race car stuff. No clean-room pictures like the above. lol

Rough crowd.
I'd use the **** out of that garage if it were mine.
I don't begrudge anyone wealth or poverty. Heel biters ****.

-Not begrudging a thing. I just said I'm not envious. As I said, all I see there is a storage closet for some rich guy's toys. :D

Oh yeah, I could use the bejeebers out of that space. So much so I'd probably have to regularly go out and buy more bejeebers . :)

But that's true of any big box structure, and apart from the one wall that opens up (and the house it's attached to) there's really nothing particularly special about that particular box structure.

Now, if it had a grease pit, a lift, an overhead 5-ton crane and was outfitted with everything from a drawerful of Clecos to a Bridgeport, then I'd start being interested.

Man you guys are hard. I'd love to have that house. Obviously one needs the income to support it, but if you have that, why not.
