Hey guys.
We have an Accurpress 350 ton CNC press brake and we only had one of those way over priced tool cabinets that has drawers. These cabinets cost between $2500 and $5000. Now I’m not sure how many of you have had to use some of the bigger bottom dies but a 20” section can be about 75#’s. Well the drawers have a lip in front so you can’t just slide the die out and then lift.
Needing more enclosed storage space as well as getting tired of this cabinet I designed a new and much bigger / better storage solution.
See pictures.
I’ve since simplified the design and we are looking to make these for a couple of tooling vendors.
Formed Lexin doors and end panels let the light in. The shelves are open in front allowing one to slide a tool out a little and support that end before lifting.
If anybody has any additional ideas I’m always open to improving a design.

One of the things we did to cut some costs out of the unit which was about $3500 for a lot of storage was to make the Delrin / uhmw supports in strips instead of having the beds made completely out of the plastic.
Solid plastic shelves are about $250 each where as our entire unit has about $400 plastic in it.

Nice design!!! I love it...

We use the Cabinets from Wilson Tool and Amada...Lista Rebranded. They seem to hold up... for the custom stuff and job specific we buy racks and fill them...

We have I am going to guess a couple of thousand linear feet of Brake Tooling...

That’s a lot of tooling. I was having some issues with having tooling in open racks in the shop and keeping it clean so that was also a driver to designing this cabinet. I’ve also got an adjustable shelf rack in the works for smaller light gauge tooling so we should be able to load up one double rack with about 4 drawer cabinets worth of tooling
