I have enough material to build a press out of 10" wide flange. (W10X88) I would like to have someone point me in the right direction to find out what the max safe load I can put on a 50" long piece. I've got several hydraulic cylinders off farm equipment I've broken ears off, bent shaft etc that I can mount in it and I've found a electric motor and a pump I can use as a power source. The assembly of everything thing I'm familiar with just want to know how much strain it's good for. I've worked in the oil patch all my life so piping and pressure are an everyday thing. Any advice appreciated.

Look for a comparable sized press frame and design from there.
Just an example but, my 30 ton has 6" wide by 2" side members made from 3/16th's plate.
