ok so I was wondering what psi i was actually getting to my blast cabinet so I installed a gauge at the cabinet. I have the shop plumbed with 1/2 inch black iron about 25 foot. It goes to a roll up airline setup and to my blast cabinet I use quick connects with those 1/4 inch connectors. I have a full 80psi at the compressor at all times no matter how much blasting im doing but the gauge at the cabinet got to 55 or so. I can tell a difference while im blasting but if i stop it quickly goes back up to 80 to match. IM guess this is cause of the wind up and quick connects, any thoughts on this? Even at 55psi its still pretty good at blasting. thanks

Pressure drop due to restriction in air flow.
If it's not a problem then it's not a problem.
Or you can use a jumper hose from the compressor direct to the cabinet. Bigger the better.

Another option.
Attach a reserve tank near the cabinet or near the end of the line

The reading may not really be a true indicator, depends on how far the second gage is from the nozzle? Little or no restriction between it and noz could see a big reading drop, if all is working well and this isnt a 24 hr a day operation woudn't worry over it.

If your blaster performance is suffering you may have to go with a 1/2 hose to it. It made a huge difference when I added a 1/2" hose reel just for use with the blast cabinet.

The pressure drop is a function of the air volume you are using. You should see it drop while the blast cabinet is in operation, and rise back up to the supply pressure when the air flow is stopped.

if you are using a lot of air then the pressure will drop

if you want more pressure then crank the regulator at the compressor up to 120

I was actually thinking of getting another compressor and having them twin together. I would have them offset so one comes on 10 psi before the other one that way if i dont need it the 2nd wont come on. This isnt eaxctly the best plan but it would work well and be way cheaper than getting a huge compressor. I dont have a real issue with blasting now but with the little drop in psi i get i do notice a difference the added cfm would keep it right where it needs to be.

I also found a 4 cylinder ch 80 gallon remaned with 1 year warranty for 649 bucks. 16.1 cfm at 90psi. Seems to be what i need but it wont fit under my work bench anymore but thats not to bad i can live with it on the floor.
