I put a "make offer" on this gauge via eBay tonight. It hasn't been approved/declined as of yet. After looking closer at the pics I noticed the gauge needle is at 10Psi. Shouldn't it be at zero? I don't think this has a release button on it, so I think it might be broken. It doesn't state it's non-working in the description...but if broken I don't want it obviously.

Would SO warranty this type of item if I bought it new? I hope they're not that sensitive to breakage...

yes should be at zero. you may be able to fix it. I have a set of 4 vacuum guages from HF I bought to sync carbs on a goldwing. revved the trottle and pegged the guages, now they are all off like your pic. I was able to take them apart and re-set the spring gear to the zero setting. pretty easy actually. now i've never had a Snap-on apart, but I would presume all guages are pretty much the same, the guage needle is on shaft with a gear, which is geared to the bourdon tube that moves up and down with pressure/vacuum. just be careful you don't bend the tube.

Just woke up to a counteroffer of $10 more than my offer. I think I'll pass on this particular gauge and just find a different set. Thanks for the info, might need it in the future.

I'd pass, I wouldn't buy used stuff like this unless it was from someone I know and something i'd used myself.
