I bought a HF pressure pot sand blaster on Marketplace and have done a few mods to it - 1/2" tee with stainless barb on the bottom, a motor guard filter at the unit to be sure the air is dry, and a kennametal 5/32 tip. I used fine coal slag media from Tractor Supply and blasted my jeep floor pans today. Worked good. Only complaint was I had to kick the tank every now and then to get the media to drop to the bottom.

Has anyone rigged up something to vibrate the tank to shake the grit down? I saw one guy zip tied a palm sander to the side of the tank. Clever enough, but I don't want to run an extension cord over if I don't have to.

I seen another guy used a cheap die grinder with a short arm chucked in the collet, muffler clamped to the side of a blast cabinet. He used a solenoid valve run on 120v switched by a foot pedal. I'll look into a pneumatic solenoid valve, really don't want to string a 110v cord out there too. The goal here is something almost as cheap as kicking the side of the tank.

Just did a quick search on ebay and found this: Pneumatic Foot Pedal Valve. I think I have enough **** laying around the garage to make this up, just need a cheap HF die grinder now. All in should be under $50.

Unfortunately I am done with blasting for right now, will probably revisit this project next time I need to blast something.

Probably work well..

Do you need the control though? Just hook it up to an air hose, toss a ball valve in to control the speed and let it run as you blast.

If you're anything like me, don't now well it's fresh in your mind. In 6 months when you want to blast something quick you won't think about it/won't have time and you'll struggle through and tell yourself next time.

Yeah, you ain't wrong. Unfortunately I already hoisted it up to the storage loft, so it'll be up there until the next time I need it.
