Pressure Switch Wiring Question

I have a pressure tank that starts and stops the pump with a pressure switch. The manual says to install the pressure switch as close to the pressure tank as possible. My question is, does it matter how far the wiring runs to the pressure switch?

The switch and power are now in a seperate building about 30 ft away. I'm moving the pressure tank and switch but not the power. I'm going to run the wire to and from the pressure switch between the buildings. Is there anything wrong with this idea?

I don't really understand what's going on with your setup but the distance of 30' for the wire is not a problem as long as you are running the proper size and type wire for the application and load.

What it sounds like to me is that his electrical panel is in one building and the pressure tank is in another. And just as you said, as long as the wire is sized right, he should be fine.

OP- what is the FLC and voltage of your pump? If you want to know the specific wire gauge u should use, then we need more info!

Depending on pump size there may well be a relay or contactor that actually controls the power to the motor. If that is the case, your new wiring will not be carrying motor current, just relay current and can be much smaller.
