pressure-treated railing to concrete

I am trying to put a pressure treated railing on a stair case on my front concrete porch. I tried the tapcon screws and the drill bit from home depot but it does not seem very strong.


Any other advice or ideas?

I'd use expanding anchors. About a week or so there was a thread with alternatives and reasons not to use them.

Use more screws. Several Small Screws can possibly be equivalent to one that is the proper size.

Are you using steel brackets screwed to the concrete and then attaching the wooden posts to the brackets?

well the other end will be mounted to the railing on the porch the landing will be similar with the 8x8 to mount. So there is more support at the top then the bottom.

Consider putting the post in the ground or mounting it to the side of the concrete. No lateral support your way

Into brick, brick joints ( mortar ), or concrete?

That will never be strong. A metal base will be infinitely better
