Pressure Washer Adjustment - Smaller Line

We have a big old clog in our garage drain. There's about as many drains as a house and one branch is clogged. So I ordered one of those hoses that hook up to the pressure washer and it feeds down the drain and blows all the debris out. It actually fed in pretty well through the drain. Now if i can get the dang pressure washer to release water as usual.

The unclogger hose connects to the spray gun end, like a 3/4" or 1/2" MPT fitting of some type. No problems there. Now it seems that because the drain unclogger hose diameter is smaller (than the original pressure washer hose) and the holes on the tip of the device require less water but supply more pressure, the pressure washer won't "engage" the water supply. I have to keep pulling the gun trigger on and off and it will engage briefly.

And it appears that because of the lesser demand for water, I need to find how I can adjust the pressure washer to release water when the gun/wand trigger is pulled. This is the valve I believe that is on the pump and this unit has a spring. I'm not sure which way to adjust the spring.

change the tip or drill them out.
Amen. The "Clog Hog" had such small holes it probably plugged itself from cardboard dust during shipping...poor design. I drilled 1/16" holes anf SHABANG! Drains cleaned out like magic 30' in.

Yes, the sizing wouldnt be super sensitive. I have done a lot of stuff with washers but really havnt done a lot of pipe work but I bet it cleans it out well. If it has multi jets the benefit may not only be unclog but clean the walls well too.

if you can't get it to work, they sell a regular unclogger that just hooks direct to a garden hose, the rubber ball expands to seal in the same way.

I've also had success just stuffing wet rags around a blow gun and using my air compressor to do the same thing...

You have to size the jets in the nozzle for the flow rate of the pressure washer that you are using. It sounds as though you have a significant mismatch.
