Northern Tool washer, about 3 yrs old. Ran fine when parked. Needed to do a small job today, pulled it out and filled the tank with fresh gas. After remembering it has an on-off switch (happens every time) i finally got it started. Problem is ir runs kinda ok on the choke, but quickly dies with choke off. Job was small enough that i got it done with the choke on, but even then it wanted to die when i pulled the water trigger.

Needs a carburetor overhaul. When mine did that, I bought a new carburetor on Amazon identical to the one on the engine, and it ran perfectly. The cost was about $20, and I couldn't even find a kit for it online. Not worth the time to even consider rebuilding it. I probably should buy a spare for the next time it acts up.

Before you look for another carburetor, try this: remove the bowl and nut and spray carb cleaner up the center cleaning the emulsion tube. Let it sit for a bit and then blow compressed air up there. It should clean things out. The emulsion tube will probably be stuck in place. I have fixed lawn mowers and snowblowers just doing this.

The emulsion tube is shown below.

Is that like navage for carbs?

I’ll try it, thanks.

I've had good luck with knock off carbs, but I would always try a cleaning or 2 on the OEM before I bought one.
Mind you, I have an ultrasonic cleaner and they do an amazing job

I've always used water with Dawn dish soap, or Pinesol original
can't really comment on one vs the other working better or not , other than pinesol smells awful
PS James Condon on you tube is a generator guru, he has several videos where he shows deep cleaning carbs .
