Who has successfully used a pressure washer sandblaster attachment?

I need to clean up and paint the rims for my snow tires.
Was thinking of trying the sandblasting attachment for a pressure washer.

Years ago my dad bought one but never used it. He leant it to a friend who said it didn’t work well so my dad told him to keep it.
He never explained what “didn’t work well” meant.

I've had this saved for a while. No experience with it though.

I have one, and the short answer is that it's not quite as effective as a sand blaster, and still makes a pretty good mess. If you want to strip it to spotless clean metal, you'll be a little disappointed. If you want to knock off loose rust & paint, to prep for new paint it works well.

That’s what I wanted to know, thanks.
I don’t need to strip to bare metal, I just want to get the flaky crusty stuff off and have a cleaner surface for some new rustoleum.

I bought one but take note of the pressure and flow requirements for the gun. Most residential units don't have enough to siphon the media.
My 2700psi did not work well.

I use Hingston metal on Eastchester for sand blasting. they are ( were ) reasonable and you don't have the mess to deal with.
they did some trailer rims for me with the tires on, and did only the faces as I requested. I can't remember how much but at the time i thought it was reasonable and they were down to bare metal

I have. I made one from a forklift propane tank. I will see if I have pictures. It works pretty slow, my pressure washer is only 1800psi. but it works and no dust.

This is the wand I used

Eta I can only find cad drawings of my parts list. I can try and get a shot of it some time next week

I have one and tried it for a few minutes. It works....okish. After a lot of research, many said Pool filter sand is the way to go. It worked well enough for me.

It is important to keep the sand intake facing up, or water will drip into the choke point and clog it.

You should also use plenty of PPE. The blowback sand was intense, and no joke.

I just dropped the rims I wanted done off at a media stripping company. They were too big to fit in my blast cabinet.

I know this thread is almost a year old, but figured I world give feedback for future searches, which is how I found this thread. I have one with a 4gpm pressure washer. It works fairly well with freshly purchased crushed glass. But like an air powered pot set up, it does not work with moist media. It goes through a fair amount of media, and with my 4 gpm pressure washer it takes every thing down to bare metal.

Where did you buy the crushed glass?

Instead of using the siphon method that was shipped with the cheap Amazon pressure washer blaster. I hooked it up to my pressure blaster. It works quite well. Although the sand injection tube got eaten up this weekend. That little bend in the pipe caused some trouble. Got another one ordered yesterday for $28. Perhaps I shouldn't run 100 psi at the blaster. whoops!
