Hi all.

I'm looking for suggestions on a new pressure washer for personal use like exterior concrete, cars, lawn equipment, and masonry.

I had a 20 year old Italian made electric Karcher that finally gave up. Great machine. Modern Karchers are nothing like it.

I borrowed a gas powered unit with a Honda engine and it worked well for me.

Those two units focus my search requirements on my next unit.

I need:

1- gasoline powered
2- auto idle down
3-able to add detergent to the spray stream

Nice to have:

1- unit that can use accessories like a water broom, and rotary tip

2- ability to add an extra length of hose like an extension cord

3- Honda engine

Budget is $600 to $800.

If you have a suggestion please give a specific model number and manufacturer.

Thank you.

I have a Stihl RB400 and love it. I purchased this about 4 years ago to replace my 20 year old Craftsman with B&S 5hp engine that still ran great. The 6.5 hp engine is relatively quiet and the framework of the unit is rock solid all while providing upwards as high as 2700 psi if needed. The hose is kink free and extremely durable as well as a lot of accessories are available, although I haven't really used any.

I think these can be purchased around the lower end of your budget but not sure about current pricing.

I have a Simpson with Honda and am quite pleased with it, they start at $300 and go way up from there. Here is a good place to get some ideas on how much you want to spend. If I had more money to spend at the time I probably would have bought one with a rebuildable CAT pump and Honda GX motor instead of the GC. All depends how much you're going to use it.

I'd go with whatever brand is in your budget that has a CAT pump. Engine make isn't that important in my opinion.

I have a Ridgid with a Robin engine and a CAT pump and it's never needed any repairs. Just service it occasionally.

As far as adding soap, just add a foam cannon instead. It will save a lot of rinsing of hoses and guns, plus it works better anyway.

I went through researching pressure washers last year. I ended up purchasing a Yamaha PW3028, and very happy with it. Look at the features and I think you will see it has everything you asked for, and more.

I've always been a huge Yamaha fan and have probably owned close to 12 of them.
