Pressurized Cans - Storage

OT....but does storage temperature affect the longevity of Pressurized Cans in a Unheated Garage. Where temps may dip below 20-15 F for long periods of a time....

Should I be making room indoors for this stuff....

Depends on what it is. Obviously, letting something like spray paint freeze is going to ruin it. But I leave things like white lithium, Kroil, etc. out in the shop.

Ive never had a problem with cans of spray paint or automotive paint freezing. Still good after many freeze thaw cycles.When its deliverer to the store it doesnt come in a heated truck.

I'm talking like a can of Kroil for let's say 3 years ?

I have a can of Kroil that's about three years old and it lives in the garage in Minneapolis year round. Just used it the other day and it's fine.

The only things I bring in during the winter are water based products (vinyl spray, window cleaner, etc.) Aerosol cans with paint, etc. are fine in the cold, although you'll have to warm them up before using them.

That's good to know. I already have a cabinet where I keep my waxes and stuff....IF I had to make room for these cans, I would....

My dad has a can of Kroil that must be twenty years old. Still works fine.

The only paint you need to worry about freezing would be latex paint.

Why? Virtually all spray paint is oil based, not latex (water) based. You do need to warm them up before spraying however.

I bring all my Spray Paint cans inside for the Winter.Just to be safe,it never hurts.

I never bring that stuff inside and have never had a problem. LI NY winters.

Latex paint sometimes gets ruined when it freezes. Oil based paint seems to hold up fine in freezing temps.
